Arrest Report - January 16, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the 3-day holiday weekend reporting period (Friday-Monday), the Sheriff’s Office responded to 136 complaints and made the following arrests:

 

WARRANTS SECTION

 

Kirby Madison, 27, 114 Carmen Street, Lafayette, LA was arrested on January 12, 208 at 1:10 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy assigned to the Warrants Section located Madison at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Madison was released on a recognizance bond.

 

UNIFORMED PATROL SECTION

 

Travis Touchet, 36, 308 Arnould Street, Lafayette, LA was arrested on January 12, 2018 at 4:12 pm for hit-and-run driving. A deputy investigating a December 2017 report of a hit-and-run crash found evidence that Touchet rear-ended another vehicle while driving on US Highway 90 in the Amelia area causing minor damage to the vehicles. Touchet met with the investigating deputy and turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Touchet was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Evan Washington, 29, 923 Constance Street 301, New Orleans, LA was arrested on January 14, 2018 at 7:14 pm for the following offenses:

  • Speeding
  • Operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license
  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • No motor vehicle inspection

A deputy traveling on US Highway 90 in the Franklin area observed a vehicle speeding 83 miles per hour in a posted 70 miles per hour zone and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy identified the driver as Washington. The deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the car and also found that Washington’s driver’s license was listed as suspended. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana and a grinder. The deputy also discovered that Washington had no motor vehicle inspection. Washington was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Washington was released on a $5,000 bond.

 

Dustin Couvillier, 31, 116 Cypress Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on January 14, 2018 at 2:37 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and improper lane usage. A deputy patrolling the Jeanerette area observed a vehicle swerving onto the shoulder and over the centerline of LA Highway 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Couvillier. While speaking with him, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and body. The deputy also observed other signs of driver impairment. The deputy performed a standardized field sobriety test. Couvillier conducted the test poorly. Following the investigation, Couvillier was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Couvillier was released on a $2,750 bond.

 

Juvenile male, 14, Bayou Sale, LA was arrested on January 14, 2018 at 5:02 pm for ungovernable juvenile. A deputy investigating a call for service regarding a missing teenager found that the juvenile left his residence without the permission of a guardian. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

Crystal Thompson, 39, 209 Field Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on January 15, 2018 at 5:20 pm for theft. In early January, a deputy began an investigation into a report of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. On January 15th, a deputy received information from store security that the suspect in the shoplifting incident was in the store. The deputy positively identified Thompson as the subject who left the store without paying for several items. Thompson was released on a summons to appear in court on April 2, 2018.

 

Brittan Boudreaux, 33, 3004 Lizabeth Drive, Morgan City, LA was arrested on January 15, 2018 at 9:30 pm for theft and criminal trespass. A deputy investigating a report of a theft found evidence that Boudreaux stole 2 tool boxes from outside a residence on Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista. Boudreaux was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.

 

Marvin Francis, Jr., 28, 804 ½ Lobard Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on January 15, 2018 at 11:16 pm for the following offenses:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
  • Following too closely
  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance

Deputies responded to a 2 vehicle crash on US Highway 90 in the Four Corners area. A deputy identified one of the drivers as Francis and smelled the odor of alcohol on his person. The deputy performed a standardized field sobriety test. Francis conducted the test poorly. During the investigation, the deputy also received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana. There was also a handgun inside the vehicle. Francis later registered a 0.118 grams percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Francis was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $4,750.
