Arrest Report - March 2, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Bob Simmons, 62, 2920 Fourth Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on March 1, 2018 at 1:17 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of Schedule I (marijuana). A deputy working in Bayou Vista came into contact with Simmons and located the active warrant for his arrest. Simmons was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Simmons was released on a $750 bond.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Vincent Coleman, 25, 134 Bray Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 1, 2018 at 3:13 pm for the following offenses:

  • Resisting an officer
  • Criminal trespass
  • Warrant for disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, criminal trespass, and resisting an officer (giving false information)

Narcotics detectives received information that Coleman, who was wanted on a warrant, was involved in illegal drug activity on Sixth Street in Franklin. Detectives located Coleman. When Coleman saw detectives, he fled on foot through several yards. Detectives searched the area. Franklin Police officers assisted in the search. A narcotics detective found Coleman hiding beneath a shed. The warrant was issued after Coleman ran from deputies during an investigation into a fight on Bray Lane in August of 2017. Coleman was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Rodney Bowie, 40, 1004 Cayce Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on march 1, 2018 at 3:13 pm for the following offenses:

  • Resisting an officer
  • Possession of Schedule I (heroin)
  • Entering contraband into a penal institution
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family

When narcotics detectives arrived on Sixth Street in Franklin to make an arrest on the warrant for Coleman, Bowie also fled from them on foot. Detectives pursued Bowie, detained him, and subsequently arrested him for resisting an officer. Bowie was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. The deputy transporting Bowie found that he attempted to discard a bag of heroin beneath the seat of the police unit. During booking, a correctional officer located the active warrant for his arrest. No bail is set.
