Arrest Report - April 5, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 39 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Brooklyn Westley, 19, 406 C L Smith Road, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 10:01 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. Westley turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Westley was released on a $2,000 bond.

 

Myles Morgan, 30, 1004 Front Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 10:39 am on a Berwick Police Department warrant for violation of a protective order. A deputy made contact with Morgan in District Court. Morgan was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.

 

Keth Parker, 39, 7679 Highway 87, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 12:50 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery. The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred on April 1, 2018, where deputies found evidence that Parker physically abused the victim. Deputies made contact with Parker at his residence. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration. Parker was released on a $25,000 bond.

 

Vickie Norwood, 36, 323 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 8:41 pm for speeding and possession of marijuana. A deputy in the Berwick area observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 90. The deputy made contact with the driver, who was identified as Norwood. While speaking with Norwood, the deputy smelled an odor of burnt marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located a burnt marijuana cigarette. Norwood was released on a summons to appear in court on July 11, 2018.

 

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Aaron Cage, 27, 2483 Third Street #2, Berwick, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 7:45 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule II (Cocaine) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule II (Methamphetamine) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule I (Marijuana) with intent to distribute
  • Transactions involving drug proceeds
  • Violation of controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor

 

Jamarcus Gunner, 24, 172 Verdun Lane, Verdunville, LA, was arrested on April 4, 2018 at 7:45 pm for possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) and violation of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.

 

Narcotics Section detectives executed a no knock search warrant at the residence of Cage, 2483 Third Street #2 in Berwick, with assistance from officers with the Berwick and Morgan City Police Departments. During the search of the residence, detectives located methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Detectives then made contact with Cage and other individuals at a local park. Upon arriving at the park, detectives observed one of the individuals, identified as Gunner, reach into his pocket and drop a bag on the ground; the bag contained xanax pills. During a search of Cage’s person, detectives located marijuana and $241. Detectives also found evidence that a minor child was present in the home of Cage. Both Cage and Gunner were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.
