St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Luis Valadez, 21, 416 Mozart Drive, Houma, LA was arrested on May 14, 2017 at 9:52 pm for resisting an officer (giving false information) and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. A deputy responded to a request to remove a subject from a residence in Amelia. The deputy located the subject as he was driving away from the home and stopped the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver who initially gave a false name. The deputy identified him as Valadez and located the active warrant for his arrest.
Brian Prince, 21, 405 Camille Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 12:41 am for violation of the maximum speed limit law. A deputy observed a vehicle traveling 81 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour construction zone on US Highway 90 in Berwick. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who was identified as Prince. He was released on a summons to appear on court on August 15, 2017.
Dayshawn Short, 32, 710 Everett Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 10:36 am on a warrant for failure to comply with a court order to enroll with a batterers’ intervention program. A correctional officer located the warrant for Short who was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set on the warrant.
Dean Lacoste, 26, 106 Sunnyside Lane, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 10:53 am for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy responded to a residential alarm activation in Berwick and observed items of drug paraphernalia inside the residence. While speaking with Lacoste, the homeowner, the deputy learned that he was also in possession of a small of amount of marijuana. Lacoste was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.
John Henry, 28, 920 Irish Bend Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 2:21 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A correctional officer transported Henry from the Lincoln County jail in Mississippi to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail on the warrant is set at $100,000.
Carlon Gonsoulin, 27, 101 Martin Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 3:12 pm for domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a report of a fight at a residence in Amelia. During the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Gonsoulin struck a female victim in the face and grabbed the victim by the hair during an argument. Gonsoulin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Tobin Dinger, Jr., 22, 167 Highway 182 East, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 5:04 pm for cruelty to animals. A deputy was contacted by a St. Mary Parish animal cruelty investigator about a malnourished dog. The deputy observed the animal on a leash outside the residence without shelter, food, or water. The deputy spoke with Dinger, the owner of the animal. Following the investigation, Dinger was released on a summons to appear in court on August 15, 2017.
Roland Alfred, 36, 1031 Highway 318 Lot #4, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 3:33 pm for the following offenses:
- Armed robbery
- Criminal trespass
- Illegal carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of aggravated battery
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family
On November 18, 2016, deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred outside of a residence on Highway 318 in Four Corners. The detective assigned to case found evidence that Alfred approached 2 male victims with a long gun and demanded their belongings. Alfred was also wanted active warrants. He was taken into custody at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Emilie Elkins, 24, 1114 Lee Charles Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 9:25 pm for possession of Schedule IV (Xanax), possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone, and obstruction of justice.
Rita Guillot, 76, 1114 Lee Chares Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 15, 2017 at 9:25pm for possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug free zone.
A deputy investigating a separate complaint at Caffery Park in Franklin came into contact with Elkins and Guillot. While speaking with them, the deputy observed Elkins attempting to conceal an item in Guillot’s pocket and observed Xanax pills fall from Elkins’ pants pocket. Elkins and Guillot were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set for Elkins. Guillot was released on a $1,000 bond.
