Arrest Report - June 16, 2017

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 complaints and reports the following arrests:


Nathan Batiste, III, 29, 526 Seventh Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on june 15, 2017 at 2:11 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. A correctional officer transported Batiste from the Ascension Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bail is set.


Juvenile male, 14, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on June 15, 2017 at 3:45 pm on 2 warrants that both list charges of theft of goods and curfew violation.


Juvenile male, 12, Berwick, LA was arrested on June 15, 2017 at 4 :43 pm on a warrant for theft of goods and curfew violation.


A detective of the Juvenile Services Section investigated 2 separate incidents of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. The incidents occurred on March 17, 2017 and June 5, 2017. In the first case, the detective collected evidence that 3 juvenile males went into the store, took backpacks from the business, concealed items in the bags, and then left the store without paying for the goods. In the second case, the detective found evidence that 2 juveniles stole items in the same manner. The detective identified the juveniles involved and obtained warrants for their arrests. Both juveniles came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the cases and were subsequently arrested. Both juveniles were released to guardians pending juvenile court proceedings. 1 arrest is pending.
