According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 42 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Janice Fabre, 63, 1515 Saturn Rd, Bayou Vista LA, was arrested on October 19, 2017, at 5:27 pm on the charge of theft of goods. A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a call of a shoplifting at a local business. Through investigation, the deputy learned that Fabre shoplifted several items from the business totaling $37. Fabre was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in court January 3, 2018.
Sharla Daniels, 47, 905 Willow St, Franklin LA, was arrested October 19, 2017, at 4:19 pm for driving with no insurance and switched license plate. A deputy assigned to the Bayou Vista area responded to a report of a stalled vehicle on Highway 90. Upon making contact with the driver, Daniels, the deputy learned that the vehicle did not have any insurance. The deputy also learned that the license plate affixed to the vehicle belonged to that of another. Daniels was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on January 3, 2018.
Trey Simoneaux, 34, 310 Cypress St, Patterson LA, was arrested on October 19, 2017, at 10:15 am for resisting an officer. While Simoneaux was being sentenced for an unrelated offense at the parish courthouse, he ran from deputies to an emergency exit. Simoneaux was apprehended outside of the courthouse, arrested, and transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released after posting bail.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Richard Hawkins, 42, 1110 Birch St, Morgan City LA, was arrested on October 20, 2017, at 6:02 pm on the following charges:
-Disturbing the peace
-No driver’s license on person
-Stop sign violation
While on patrol of the Morgan City area, narcotics detectives observed the driver of a vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at an intersection. Detectives made contact with the driver, Hawkins, who began screaming and cursing. Detectives also discovered an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and noted that the vehicle’s license plate was improperly displayed as it was obstructed by a border. Furthermore, Hawkins did not have a driver’s license on his person. Hawkins was arrested and transported to the parish jail for booking. Hawkins was ultimately released after posting bail.
Kilo White, 28, 905 Main St, Franklin, LA was arrested on October 19, 2017, at 7:37 am for possession of marijuana and violation of a uniform controlled dangerous substances law- drug-free zone. Detectives with the Narcotics section conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the operator fail to use a turn signal while turning onto another street. A search of the vehicle ensued and narcotics detectives found marijuana in an ashtray. Detectives also noted that White was in possession of marijuana within 2000 feet of a drug-free park, school, and church. White was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in court on January 3, 2017.
Melissa Strother, 46, 375 Pacific St, Berwick LA, was arrested on October 19, 2017, at 1:46 pm for a warrant on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives located Strother at a business in Morgan City and arrested her. The warrant stems from an investigation concerning illegal drug activity. Strother was arrested and released on a summons to spear to court on January 3, 2017.
Shane Granger, 30, 1215 Federal Ave, Morgan City LA, was arrested on October 19, 2017, at 5:27 pm on the following charges:
-No turn signal
-No driver’s license
-Possession of marijuana.
Detectives observed a vehicle fail to utilize a turn signal and initiated a traffic stop. The stop was conducted on Highway 182 in Morgan City. Detectives made contact with the driver, Granger, and found that he did not have a driver’s license and did not have insurance for the vehicle he was operating. A search of the vehicle ensued and detectives discovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Granger was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in court on January 3, 2018.
