2017 Leadership St. Mary participants visited St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office headquarters and shooting range for an in depth look at the daily operations of our department. The mission of this St. Mary Chamber of Commerce program is to recruit and develop leaders who will be active and involved in moving St. Mary Parish forward. Over the course of 12 sessions, participants visit government agencies, businesses, and non-profit organizations where they are exposed to a range of ideas and experiences that will best prepare them to guide the parish toward achieving its highest potential.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to be a regular yearly stop on the program’s itinerary. This year, St. Mary Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy took on 2 roles as both a Leadership St. Mary participant and presenter for the Sheriff’s Office. Chamber of Commerce member and volunteer Karla Byron talks about the groups visit to the Sheriff’s Office and Chief Deputy Anslum explains more about the importance of community involvement.
