St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert advises that over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 129 complaints and reports the following arrests:
UNIFORMED PATROL SECTION
Brett Gaspard, 27, 283 Eves Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on November 22, 2017 at 3:57 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment law) and second degree aggravated battery. A deputy investigating a report of domestic abuse that occurred at a residence in the Jeanerette area found evidence that Gaspard repeatedly struck a female victim with a curtain rod in the presence of young children. The female victim sustained a laceration to her arm during the battery. The investigating deputy obtained a warrant for Gaspard’s arrest. Another deputy working the holiday weekend came into contact with Gaspard on Baker Street in Franklin and took him into custody on the warrant. Gaspard was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Ronald Jones, Jr., 37, 703 Anderson Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 23, 2017 at 2:11 am for the following offenses:
- Improper lane usage
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of Schedule II (hydrocodone)
- Possession of Schedule IV (clonazepam)
- Warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of probation
A deputy patrolling LA Highway 182 in Jeanerette observed a vehicle cross the centerline of the roadway multiple times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jones. The deputy located an active warrant for Jones’ arrest. While speaking with him, the deputy collected information indicating the possible presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle. The deputy contacted the Franklin Police Department K-9 Unit to assist in the investigation. Franklin Police K-9 Lena indicated the presence of illegal drugs. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located pills and a pipe used to smoke methamphetamine. Jones was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
Ross Styles, 60, 4 Love Drive, Travelers Rest, SC was arrested on November 23, 2017 at 7:38 am for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A patrol deputy assisted the United States Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City in investigating complaints of reckless movements by a vessel in the Morgan City area. The deputy boarded the vessel with members of the United States Coast Guard and along with them made contact with Styles who was the subject piloting the boat at the time of the complaints. The deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Styles’ person and observed other signs of impairment. The deputy conducted a standardized field sobriety test. Styles performed the test poorly and later registered a 0.114 grams percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Following the investigation, Styles was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Styles was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
Antonio Collins, 33, 101 Pluto Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on November 24, 2017 at 12:41 am for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. A deputy responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance that occurred at a residence on Delmar Avenue in Bayou Vista. The deputy collected evidence that Collins entered the home without the permission of the resident. Collins was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $30,000.
Bobby Adcox, Jr., 56, 2019 Chatsworth Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on November 24, 2017 at 11:51 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of direct contempt, no seat belt, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy investigating a separate complaint in Franklin made contact with Adcox and located the active warrant for his arrest. Adcox was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $125.
Lmaishea Kately, 21, 707 Mary Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on November 26, 2017 at 3:40 am for speeding (over 25 miles per hour over the posted limit). A deputy monitoring traffic on US Highway 90 in Bayou Vista observed a vehicle moving at 77 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who was identified as Kately. Kately was released on a summons to appear in court on February 7, 2018.
Derrick Dupree, 34, 1508 St. Joseph Street, New Iberia, LA was arrested on November 26, 2017 at 5:07 am for speeding (over 25 miles per hour over the posted limit) and expired driver’s license. A deputy monitoring traffic on US Highway 90 in Bayou Vista observed a vehicle moving at 71 miles per hour in a posted 45 miles per hour zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver who was identified as Dupree. The deputy found that Dupree was operating the vehicle with an expired driver’s license. Dupree was released on a summons to appear in court on February 7, 2018.
