News Release: March 29, 2019

 

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Brennan Norton Skinner, Sr., 26, 1061 Grace St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 11:12 am on warrants for failure to appear for contempt hearing (x2).

Skinner was located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse and arrested on the above mentioned warrants. Skinner was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $1,653.15.

 

Armand Joseph Thomas, 20, 500 Martin Luther King Blvd., Baldwin, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 11:56 am on a warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Thomas was located at 500 Martin Luther King Blvd., Baldwin, La. on the above mentioned warrant. Thomas was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $1,000.

 

Raeann Lawrence Johnson, 37, 600 Mixon 2, New Iberia, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 3:52 pm on a warrant for failure to appear for theft.

Johnson was located at the Iberia Parish Jail on the above mentioned warrant. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $1,500.

 

Lucas Everett Viator, 37, 4107 Estis Rd., New Iberia, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 3:52 pm on warrants for speeding, stop signs and yield signs, and resisting an officer by flight.

Viator was located at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and booked on the above mentioned warrants. Bond has been set at $2,250.

 

Michael Wayne Howard, 44, 1005 West Third St., Franklin, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 8:21 pm for driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the Baldwin, La., area when she observed a vehicle swerving, nearly hitting a curb.  Upon conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle, the deputy identified the driver as Howard. A background check on Howard revealed his driver’s license was suspended. Howard was issued a summons to appear in court on June 19, 2019.

 

Aaron James Smith, Jr., 42, 107 Church St., Patterson, La., was arrested on March 29, 2019, at 2:02 am for possession of marijuana, resisting arrest or officer, and obstruction of justice.

Deputies patrolling the area of La. 182 near the Patterson City Limits observed a vehicle swerve and cross the center line. Upon conducting traffic stop on the vehicle, deputies made contact with the driver.  While deputies were speaking with the driver of the vehicle, they noticed a male passenger inside the vehicle, identified as Smith, begin to consume and swallow illegal narcotics. Deputies observed Smith spit out a piece of marijuana to the ground. While deputies were trying to detain Smith, he became resistant. Smith was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $4,500.

 

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Sidney J. Bergeron, 57, 601 Curtis Dr., Franklin, La., was arrested on March 28, 2019, at 12:49 pm for resisting an officer and battery of a police officer.

Narcotics detectives went to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to execute a DNA search warrant on Bergeron. Upon making contact with Bergeron, he refused to provide a DNA sample. While detectives were detaining Bergeron, he spit on the detective. Bond has been set at $300,000.
