St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 139 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Shundren Keon Johnson, 23, 326 Tiffany St., Patterson, La., was arrested on May 3, 2019, at 10:17 am on warrants for failure to appear (x2).

 

Johnson was located at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the above-mentioned warrants. Bond has been set at $3,000.

 

David Joseph Hayes, 33, 8912 Highway 182, Franklin, La., was arrested on May 3, 2019, at 11:30 am on warrants for failure to appear for trial on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia (1st offense), failure to appear for trial on the charge of possession of 6-monoacetylmorphine (less than 2 grams), and failure to appear for hearing on the charge of criminal neglect of family.

 

Hayes was located at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin, La. on the active warrants. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $36,294.58.

 

Alexis Erin Pond, 26, 100 Belle Fountaine Dr. #224, Lafayette, La., was arrested on May 4, 2019, at 12:12 am for driving under suspension, possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of schedule II drugs (suboxone), and possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hwy. 90 westbound in the Amelia, La. area in reference to a reckless driver. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Deputies made contact with the driver, identified as Pond. Upon speaking with Pond, she appeared to be nervous. Pond admitted to snorting heroin earlier that morning. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and marijuana, heroin, suboxone, and drug paraphernalia were located. A background check on Pond revealed she was driving under suspension. She was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $3,750.

 

Dwayne Jamon Provost, 35, 625 St. Peter St. #17, Jeanerette, La., was arrested on May 4, 2019, at 1:20 am for no license plate light, driver must be licensed, possession of marijuana, and possession of schedule II drugs (MDMA).

 

A deputy patrolling the area of Hwy. 83 near Hwy. 90 in Charenton, La. when he observed a vehicle without any operational license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Provost. While speaking with Provost, an odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Consent to search the vehicle was given by Provost. Upon searching the vehicle, the deputy located marijuana and MDMA pills. Provost was also unable to provide a driver's license. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $5,500.

 

Jules Anthony Druilhet, Jr., 44, 140 Bodin St., Franklin, La., was arrested on May 4, 2019, at 3:23 am for driving under suspension.

 

A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 182 near Irish Bend Rd. in Franklin, La. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Druilhet. A background check revealed he was driving under suspension. Druilhet was issued a summons to appear in court on August 28, 2019.

 

William B. Mitchell III, 50, 200 Faqua St., New Iberia, La., was arrested on May 4, 10:04 pm for speeding 20 to 25 mph.

 

A deputy traveling eastbound on Hwy. 182 in Sorrell, La. observed a vehicle traveling west at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The vehicle speed was verified by radar 80 mph in a posted 55 mph speed zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Mitchell. He was issued a summons to appear in court on August 28, 2019.

 

Jeremy Lee Housley, 37, 215 Lacey St., #2, Franklin, La., was arrested on May 5, 2019, at 1:20 am for obstruction of justice, possession of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, and a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of cocaine (less than 2 grams), possession of marijuana (14 grams or less), possession of drug paraphernalia (1st offense), and improper turn and/or failure to give required signal.

 

Deputies were patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 near Lockley Rd. in Baldwin, La. when they observed a vehicle pull out of a local business onto Hwy. 182, causing another vehicle to suddenly brake avoiding an accident. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver and the passenger, identified as Housley. Upon Housley exiting the vehicle, deputies observed a burnt marijuana cigar where he was sitting. After speaking with Housley, he admitted to swallowing methamphetamine upon getting stopped. Consent was granted by the driver to search the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies located a small amount of methamphetamine and several bags of marijuana. A background check on Housley revealed the active warrant. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $8,500.

 

Oistin James Busse, 20, 546 Watkins St., Berwick, La., was arrested on May 5, 2019, at 10:31 pm for driving on roadway laned for traffic, possession of schedule IV drugs (Xanax), and possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS.

 

Kenneth John Scott III, 20, 132 Riverview Dr., Berwick, La., was arrested on May 5, 2019, at 10:31 pm for possession of marijuana and a warrant for no license plate light, driving under suspension, and possession of marijuana.

 

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 in Berwick, La. when he observed a vehicle cross the center line. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver, identified as Busse, and the passenger, identified as Scott. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Upon Scott exiting the vehicle, the deputy observed him drop a cellophane bag containing marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, Xanax pills, marijuana, and a gun were located, which Busse admitted were his. Both were was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond on Busse has been set at $5,000. Bond on Scott has been set at $1,500.

 

Renardo Dywarne Stewart, 42, 308 Easy St., Franklin, La., was arrested on May 5, 2019, at 11:40 pm for no license plate light and driving under suspension.

 

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 in Franklin, La. when he observed a vehicle with inoperable license plate lights. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver, identified as Stewart. A background check on Stewart revealed he was driving under suspension. He was issued a summons to appear in court on August 28, 2019.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Charlie Ray Williams, Jr., 40, 101 Southwest Rd., Bayou Vista, La., was arrested on May 3, 2019, at 5:24 pm for possession of schedule II drugs with the intent to distribute (methamphetamine), possession of schedule I (marijuana), transactions involving drug proceeds, violation of CDS law in a drug-free zone, possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor, no driver’s license, warrants for domestic abuse child endangerment law, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, failure to appear for arraignment for the charge of possession of marijuana (14 grams or less), failure to appear for trial for operating a vehicle without a driver's license and operating a vehicle with improper tail lights, failure to appear for trial on the charges of possession of cocaine (less than 2 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia (1st offense), and possession of synthetic cannabinoids (1st offense), failure to appear for trial on the charges of possession of marijuana (less than 2 ½ pounds) with the intent to distribute.

 

Narcotics Detectives went to 101 Southwest Road in Bayou Vista, La. to assist with patrol with an investigation of a domestic abuse battery involving strangulation. Detectives made contact with Williams outside of the residence, at which time detective’s located methamphetamine and marijuana on his person. A search warrant was applied for and granted for a search of the residence.  During the search, marijuana was located. Cash totaling $436 located on Williams person. Two small children were inside the residence, which is located less than 2,000 feet from a school, church, and park. It was also learned that Williams had the above-mentioned warrants. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $35,000.
