Arrest Report, October 7, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 112 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Rusty Durocher, 42, 138 Simoneaux Lane, Charenton, LA, was arrested on October 4, 2019, at 5:47 am on a warrant for hit and run.

A deputy was dispatched to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 87 near Katy Bridge. Upon arrival, the deputy observed the vehicle, which was unoccupied. Through the investigation, the deputy learned that Durocher had been driving the vehicle. Durocher was located at a residence on Simoneaux Lane, arrested, and released on a summons to appear on January 10, 2020.

 

Hurbert Terrell Lovett, 56, 2328 Wilson Lane, Patterson, LA, was arrested on October 4, 2019, at 2:08 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled.

A deputy received a tip due to the "Warrant Wednesday" post on social media from someone who knew the location of Lovett. The deputy traveled to a location on Marguerite Street in Morgan City and made contact with Lovett. Lovett was advised of the active warrants and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Braxton Jarone Mitchell, 31, 213 Gumpoint Lane, Franklin, LA, was arrested on October 4, 2019, at 11:41 pm on the following charges:

  • Speeding
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Possession of schedule I drug with intent to distribute
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Open container
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

A deputy was stationary on Irish Bend Road when he observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Mitchell. During the stop, the deputy located an open container, drugs, and drug paraphernalia belonging to Mitchell. Mitchell was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was subsequently released on a $15,000 bond.

 

Renard Lamar Collins, 29, 156 Mary Garrett Road, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on October 5, 2019, at 2:06 am on the following charges:

  • Possession of a legend drug without prescription
  • Possession of schedule I drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS
  • Turning movements and required signals

A deputy was patrolling on Lockley Street when he observed a vehicle make a turn without giving a proper signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Collins. During the stop, the deputy located drugs and drug paraphernalia belonging to Collins. Collins also had a handgun in the vehicle.  Collins was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was subsequently released on a $5,000 bond.

 

Giovanni Landero Munoz, 26, 305 Charlotte Drive, Patterson, LA, was arrested on October 5, 2019, at 5:09 am for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Cypremort Point in reference to a female subject who was intoxicated and had been injured by falling. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the female, three juveniles, and two male subjects, one who was later identified as Munoz. Through the investigation, Munoz was developed as the person who purchased alcohol for the group. Munoz was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was subsequently released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Robin Gossett Hebert, 56, 101 Three B's Road, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on October 5, 2019, at 12:47 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of D.W.I. and no license plate.

A deputy was dispatched to a traffic incident at a local business in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with one of the drivers, identified as Hebert. Through the investigation, dispatch advised the deputy of the active warrant for Hebert. Hebert was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $10,000.

 

Effie Latessia Wiltz, 35, 227 Arlington Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 2:41 am for driving on roadway lined for traffic and possession of marijuana.

Tikisia Garrett Young, 42, 311 Egle Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 2:42 am for possession of marijuana.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 90 East in Centerville when he observed a vehicle cross the centerline and travel in the middle of the roadway for a short period of time.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Wiltz, and a passenger, Young. Through the stop, drugs belonging to both women were found. Wiltz and Young were arrested and released on a summons to appear on January 10, 2020.

 

Robert D. Gray, Jr., 58, 213 Ursuline Street, Lafayette, LA, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 7:33 am for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.

A deputy was stationary on Highway 90 facing east in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gray. Through the stop, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Gray was arrested and released on a summons to appear on January 10, 2020.

 

Jason Wesley Johnson, 40, 912 Tenth Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 11:01 am for possession of schedule II drugs and no seat belt.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Martin Luther King Street in Baldwin when he observed a driver not wearing a seat belt. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Johnson. Through the investigation drugs belonging to Johnson were found. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was released on a $1,500 bond.

 

Barry James Rouchon, Jr., 31, 9465 Clearwood Dr. Houston, TX, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 7:32 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery.

A deputy was dispatched to a crash on Highway 90 West near 4 Corners. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the drivers of the vehicles. Through the investigation, dispatch advised that the driver of one of the vehicles, identified as Rouchon, held an active warrant for his arrest. Rouchon was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Rouchon was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Felicia Lanette Soto, 26, 2323 Highway 182, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on October 7, 2019, at 11:30 pm on the following charges:

  • Illegal use of CDS in presence of person under 17 years of age.
  • Possession of schedule IV drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • No child restraint
  • Driver must be licensed
  • Driving on roadway lined for traffic

A deputy was patrolling highway 317 near Alice C Road when he observed a vehicle swerve onto the grassy area and then cross over the centerline. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Soto. During the stop, the deputy located drugs and drug paraphernalia belonging to Soto. Soto had no driver's license and a child was in the vehicle without being properly restrained. Soto was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Felicia Lashawn Hurst, 48, 414 Cypress Lane, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on October 7, 2019, at 12:26 am on the following charges:

  • Possession of marijuana
  • Driving on roadway laned for traffic
  • Driving under suspension

Hurst was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled.

A deputy was patrolling highway 318 near highway 182 when he observed a vehicle cross the solid white line and travel on the shoulder for a short time. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Hurst. During the stop, the deputy located marijuana belonging to Hurst Dispatch advised the deputy that Hurst held an active warrant for her arrest and she was also driving under suspension. Hurst was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

 

K9 DIVISION

Donald Anthony Lahoste, 53, 1129 Federal Avenue, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on October 6, 2019, at 1:36 am for driving while intoxicated.

A deputy was dispatched to Highway 182 West in Patterson in reference to a reckless driver. Upon arrival, the deputy observed the vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver, identified as Lahoste, exhibited signs of intoxication. The deputy conducted field sobriety in which Lahoste performed poorly.  Lahoste was transported to the Berwick Police Department for chemical testing which showed his blood alcohol content at .152 g/%. Lahoste was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was subsequently released on a $5,000 bond.
