According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Raymond Smith, 39, 1020 Sosthen Guilbeaux Road, Breaux Bridge, LA was arrested on January 15, 2015 at 6:32 am for driving while intoxicated, no drivers license, and careless operation. A deputy responding to a report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 87 in the Franklin area made contact with the driver identified as Smith. The deputy smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Smith’s breath and person and observed other indicators of alcohol intoxication. The deputy determined that Smith swerved, losing control of the vehicle which came to rest in a ditch. Smith refused to conduct a field sobriety test or breath test for alcohol intoxication. Following the crash investigation, the deputy transported Smith to the parish jail for booking. Smith was released on a $7,000 bond.
Bryan Businelle, 31, no address, was arrested on January 15, 2015 at 9:10 am on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Businelle turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. He was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.
George Coleman, 30, Montgomery, TX was additionally charged with entering contraband into a penal institution (possession of contraband) on January 15, 2015 at 3:04 pm. During a routine search of a dorm at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a jailer observed inmate Coleman attempting to hide a cell phone on his person. Coleman remains incarcerated.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Jordan Vidos, 29, 1124 4th Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on January 15, 2015 at 4:39 pm for possession of synthetic cannabinoids 3rd offense.
Leroy Bailey, 29, 1406 3rd Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on January 15, 2015 at 5:15 pm for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and improper lane usage.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane usage on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Allison Street in Morgan City. Detectives made contact with the driver, Bailey, and passenger, Vidos. During the course of the investigation, detectives located synthetic cannabinoids inside the vehicle. Bailey was released on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015. Vidos was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later released on a summons to appear in court on April 7, 2015.
