According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 29 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Shauna Hurts, 34, 607 Egle St, Morgan City LA, was arrested on February 4, 2015 at 1:30pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy assigned to the warrants division learned of Hurts’ active warrant and later located her at a residence in Patterson. Hurst was arrested and transported to the parish jail. Bail is set at $500.
Burkin Dupre, 29, 1503 Cross Rd #2 Lot #2, Bayou Vista LA, was arrested on February 4, 2015 at 4:13pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery by strangulation and aggravated assault. Dupre was also charged with 4 counts of issuing worthless checks.
The warrant stems from a disturbance reported to the Sheriff’s Office on February 2, 2015, that had occurred in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, deputies learned that Dupre struck a female victim in the face with a closed fist and placed his hands around her throat to choke her. The battery occurred in the presence of a child.
Dupre was arrested and transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.
Chad Harris, 34, 129 Collins St, Baldwin LA, was arrested on February 4, 2015 at 10:22pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family and for a warrant for failure to appear on charges of speeding and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. A deputy assigned to patrol the Baldwin area conducted a traffic stop as the driver of the vehicle failed to use a turn signal. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Harris, and learned of his active warrants for arrest. Harris was arrested and transported to the parish jail. Bail is set at $12, 310.
George Carret III, 56, 126 Rene St, Pierre Part LA, was arrested on February 5, 2015 at 2:30am on charges of careless operation of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver committed a traffic infraction. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Carret III, and detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person. Carrett III submitted to a standardized field sobriety test and later to a chemical test for intoxication. Carret III produced a breath sample of .186g% blood alcohol concentration. He was transported to the parish jail. No bail is set.
