According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 45 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Stanford Edwards, 46, 3215 Cedarwood Drive, New Iberia, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 8:55 am on a Baldwin Police Department warrant for unauthorized use of collateral securities. Edwards turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. Edwards was later released on a $1,000 bond.
Susan Sons, 53, 4020 John Street, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 3:40 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. A deputy was contacted by Berwick Police in reference to a subject with an active warrant. Sons was released on a summons to appear in court on August 19, 2015.
Seth A. Lovett, 27, 12224 Peno Lane, Gonzalez, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 8:54 pm for simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and simple criminal damage to property. A deputy investigating a complaint of stolen property learned that Lovett broke through the window of a residence on Wilson Lane in the Patterson area and stole several Xanax pills from the victim. Lovett knew the victim and had prior knowledge that the prescription drug was in the residence. The deputy transported Lovett to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

Steve Scully, 49, 117 Marin Lane Patterson, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 6:44 pm for the following offenses:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Improper lane usage
Rhett Granier, 21, 138 Natalie Lane Patterson, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 6:44 pm for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and on a warrant for domestic abuse battery.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division observed a pick-up truck cross the fog line and drive onto the shoulder of US Highway 90 in the Patterson area. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Scully, and the passenger, Granier. While speaking with Scully, detectives smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Detectives received consent to search Scully and the vehicle and located marijuana, methamphetamine, and a small hollowed wooden container with a marijuana pipe inside commonly referred to as a dug out. Detectives received consent to search Granier and located several bags of marijuana. Detectives also learned that Granier was wanted on an active warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into a domestic disturbance that occurred at a residence in Calumet in January of 2014. The deputy responding to the report learned that Granier picked up a female victim and threw her onto a couch during an argument. Granier and Scully were transported to the parish jail for booking.
John Werline, 61, 102 Chris Lane Centerville, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 8:33 pm for the following offenses:
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- Distribution of marijuana
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
- Transactions involving drug proceeds
Michael Werline, 23, 102 Chris Lane Centerville, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 8:33 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Galen Ford, 23, 3091 Hwy 70 Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 11, 2015 at 8:33 pm for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics detectives accompanied by Morgan City Police Department narcotics detectives executed a search warrant at the residence of John Werline. The warrant was the result of an investigation into J. Werline selling marijuana from the location. When detectives entered the residence, they observed Ford holding a bag of marijuana while standing next to J. Werline who was counting money. Detectives also observed M. Werline smoking marijuana in a water pipe commonly referred to as a bong. Detectives subsequently learned that J. Werline had just sold Ford the bag of marijuana when detectives entered on the warrant. During the search of the residence detectives located several bags of marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, and a firearm. J. Werline was also found to be in possession of $984 dollars in cash believed to be derived from illegal drug sales. J. Werline and Ford were transported to the parish jail for booking. J. Werline was later released on a recognizance bond. No bail is set for Galen. M. Werline was released on a summons to appear in court on August 19, 2015.
