According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Juvenile male, 16, Baldwin, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 5:44 am for the following offenses:
- Warrant for indecent behavior with juveniles
- Warrant for 3 counts indecent behavior with juveniles and attempted indecent
behavior with juveniles
- Warrant for 2 counts indecent behavior with juveniles
In early April, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office received 3 complaints of indecent behavior and molestation. During the course of the investigation, forensic interviews were conducted at Hearts of Hope Children's Advocacy Center where the detective learned that a 6 year old male victim and two 6 year old female victims were inappropriately touched by the juvenile. The abuse occurred multiple times in the months of March and April in Baldwin and Sorrel. The detective obtained warrants for the juvenile’s arrest. A deputy conducting a traffic stop on Highway 182 in the Franklin area observed the juvenile in the vehicle, knew of the active warrants for his arrest, and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin in reference to the investigation. The juvenile was later released to a guardian.
Derek Brown, 23, 90 Choctaw Road, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 8:55 am for criminal trespass. A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of a trespasser on a property on Pickett Lane in Charenton. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a male subject on the roof of a residence. The subject, identified as Brown, climbed down from the rooftop and was detained pending further investigation. The deputy then learned that Brown solicited a ride from the complainant. When the complainant refused, Brown began banging on the door of a nearby residence and climbed to the roof of the home. During the course of the investigation, Brown admitted that he had taken drugs. The deputy transported Brown to the parish jail for booking. Brown was later released on a $1,000 bond.
Cayd Hatch, 17, 713 Prairie Road North, Verdunville, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 8:47 am on a Morgan City warrant for failure to appear for seatbelt violation. A deputy investigating a complaint of a crashed vehicle on Highway 182 in Ricohoc made contact with the driver and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. The deputy transported Hatch to the parish jail for booking. A jailer received information from Morgan City Police that the fine was paid and Hatch was released.
Jesse Comeaux, Sr., 46, 508 Franklin Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 1:55 pm on a warrant for simple assault. On June 26, 2015, a deputy responded to a complaint at the Berwick Boat Landing. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Comeaux verbally threatened physical harm against a male victim while the victim was working to load a boat onto a trailer. Comeaux turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning of the warrant for his arrest. A deputy with the Warrants Division transported him to the parish jail for booking. Comeaux was released on a $250 bond.
Quincy Toups, 34, 1301 1st Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 9:31 pm for remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Wheelis Lane in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned that the subject causing the disturbance, Toups, had left the location. Another deputy conducted a traffic stop on Toups’ vehicle in Berwick. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Toups had repeatedly refused to leave the property despite being told to do so multiple times by the resident. Toups admitted to the deputy that he knew he was not allowed at the residence. The deputy transported Toups to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $500.
Shantell S. McPherson, 41, 1003 Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA was arrested on June 29, 2015 at 10:01 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, speeding, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy assigned to patrol the Amelia area observed a vehicle with no license plate illumination and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as McPherson, and located an active warrant for her arrest. The deputy transported McPherson to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $325.
Stacey L. Grubb, 34, 125 Two Sister’s Court, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on June 30, 2015 at 2:53 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy made contact with Grubb at her residence and learned of the active warrant for her arrest. The deputy transported Grubb to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.
