St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Hosts Hunter and Boater Education Courses Through Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries

Hunter Education Course - There will be a regular 10 hour Hunter Education Class held at the Patterson Civic Center on August 11th, 12th, and 14th. The hours are 6 pm to 9 pm. The range day for this class will be August 16th from 8 am to 10 am. Students must sign up at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website www.wlf.louisiana.gov. There is no fee for the class. Those ages 10 and up will receive certification. Those under 10 years of age will receive a letter of completion. Boater Education Course – There will be a Boater Education Course held at the Bayou Vista Community Center on September 6, 2014 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. All persons born after January 1, 1984, must complete a boating education course and carry proof of completion to operate a motorboat in excess of 10 horsepower. The person may operate the boat if accompanied by someone over 18 years of age who, if required, has completed the course. There is no fee for the course.
