According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 44 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Detroy Johnson, 17, 162 St. Joseph Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 6, 2015 at 3:12 pm for theft. A deputy responded to a report of theft that occurred at a residence in the Franklin area. The complainant stated that a cell phone was taken from the residence. During the course of the investigation, the deputy developed Johnson as a suspect in the crime. While speaking with Johnson, he admitted to taking the phone. The phone was recovered and returned to the owner. The deputy released Johnson on a summons to appear in court on November 17, 2015.
Tyler Davis, 18, 124 Natalie Lane, Patterson, LA was arrested on August 6, 2015 at 5:42 pm on a warrant for carnal knowledge of a juvenile. A detective investigating a complaint of carnal knowledge of a juvenile learned that Davis had sex with a 14 year old female at a location in the Franklin area. Davis came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the investigation. He was subsequently transported to the parish jail for booking.
Cherie Adams, 48, 153 Nini Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on August 6, 2015 at 8:01 pm for violation of protective orders, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, and criminal damage to property (over $2,500). A deputy investigating a complaint of a violation of protective orders located Adams at a residence. The deputy learned that Adams entered into the residence without permission when an active protective order was in place against her. While in the home, Adams caused damage to several items of furniture and a wall. The deputy transported Adams to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Kelly Kendall, Jr., 23, 2305 River Road, Berwick, LA was arrested on August 7, 2015 at 12:09 am for the following offenses:
- Criminal damage to coin operated devices
- Criminal damage to property (over $500)
- Criminal damage to property (under $500)
- Disturbing the peace (intoxicated)
- Resisting an officer by flight
- Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family
A deputy was dispatched to a complaint of property damage at a bar located on Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. While en route, the deputy received information that the suspect in the crime was walking along the highway towards Berwick. The deputy located the suspect, identified as Kendall, and transported him to the business for further investigation. The deputy learned that Kendall punched a jukebox damaging it. After being placed under arrest for the criminal damage and warrant, Kendall began banging his head on the police unit and thrashing around in the rear seat. The deputy contacted Acadian Ambulance to render medical assistance. When EMT’s went to give aid, Kendall became combative and made an attempt to flee. When the deputy placed Kendall back into the police unit he continued to thrash banging his head on the window sustaining a small cut on his forehead and damaging the window frame. The deputy then transported Kendall to Teche Regional Medical Center for care. Kendall continued to refuse to cooperate with medical personnel punching a wall and damaging glass at the hospital. After being released from the hospital, Kendall was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
