According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 32 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Rebecca Matherly, 32, 7405 Highway 182 #116, Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 11, 2015 at 4:56 am for the following offenses:
- Improper driving on a roadway laned for traffic
- No drivers license
- Switched license plate
- Possession of synthetic cannabinoids
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
A deputy traveling on Highway 182 in Morgan City observed a vehicle moving across the center line multiple times and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Matherly, was unable to produce a valid license stating that her DL had been suspended. The deputy also determined that the license plate displayed was not registered to Matherly’s vehicle. As the investigation continued, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located 4 packs of synthetic drugs inside along with a pack of cigars. Matherly admitted to the deputy that she used the cigar wrappings to smoke the synthetic substance. The deputy transported Matherly to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $4,250.
Agnes L. Johnson, 73, 2655 Johnson Drive, Berwick, LA was arrested on August 11, 2015 at 12:19 pm on a warrant for issuing worthless checks. Johnson came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in reference to the warrant. She was released on a summons to appear in court on November 17, 2015.
Toya Hamm, 34, 108 Oak Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 11, 2015 at 2:06 pm on a warrant for forgery and unauthorized use of an access card. A deputy investigating a complaint of forgery learned that Hamm signed checks and used a debit card that did not belong to her. Hamm turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning about the warrant for her arrest. Hamm was released after posting a $3,500 bond.
Kevin Mitchell, 46, 10671 Highway 182 Lot #19, Amelia, LA was arrested on August 12, 2015 at 4:42 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, failure to signal lane change, operating a vehicle without a driver’s license on person, displaying/possession an invalid registration certificate or registration number plate, and failure to honor written promise to appear. A deputy made contact with Mitchell at his residence and learned of the active warrant for his arrest. Bail is set at $349.50.
According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Kathy Pierce, 48, 7197 Park Road Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 11, 2015 at 7:49 pm for the following offenses:
- No turn signal
- Possession of Schedule II (Lortab)
- Possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile
- Violation of a Drug Free Zone (church)
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Berwick area observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn onto Sixth Street and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Pierce, and a child who was also inside the vehicle. During the traffic stop investigation, detectives received consent to search and located 7 Lortab pills in Pierce’s purse. Pierce did not have a prescription for the drugs. The investigation took place near a church. No bail is set.
