According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24 hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Rick J. McCurtis, Jr., 34, 544 Verdin Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on July 29, 2014 at 12:59 pm on a warrant from Louisiana State Police for failure to register as a sex offender and on a Lafayette Parish warrant for failure to appear. A detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Compliance Division made contact with McCurtis at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin and advised him of the active warrants for his arrest. McCurtis was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Matthew Baras, 17, 816 Iberia Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on July 29, 2014 at 7:22 pm for possession of Schedule I (synthetic marijuana).
James Hill, 18, 217 Morris Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on July 29, 2014 at 7:22 pm for possession of Schedule I (synthetic marijuana) and stop sign violation.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division were patrolling the Franklin area when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Pine and Short Tenth Streets. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Hill, and the passenger, identified as Baras. During the course of the investigation, detectives located synthetic marijuana inside the vehicle. Baras and Hill were released on summonses to appear in court on October 13, 2014.
