On Monday, February 1, 2016 at 2:26 pm deputies responded to a complaint of several male subjects fighting on Friendship Alley in Amelia. As deputies arrived at the location, the Sheriff’s Office received a second call reporting a shooting on Friendship Alley. Detectives also responded to the scene and processed evidence of a gun being fired. No injuries were reported. Deputies and detectives detained several subjects in the area pending further investigation into the complaints. One of those subjects was found to have active parish and city court warrants and was placed under arrest (see daily arrest report). The illegal discharge of a firearm and reported shooting remains under investigation. While conducting this investigation, a deputy located several improperly kenneled pit bull breed and pit bull mixed breed dogs behind a residence in the 100 block of Friendship Alley. A total of 9 dogs were turned over to the St. Mary Parish Animal Control Officer. The St. Mary Parish Humane Society was contacted and the incident remains under investigation.
