According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour weekend reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 124 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Tana G. Carlson, 41, 342 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 6, 2016 at 1:19 pm for violation of the parish leash law ordinance. A deputy responding to an animal complaint at a residence on Easy Street in Franklin was approached by two dogs that were running loose in the area. The deputy made contact with the Carlson, the owner of the animals. Following an investigation, Carlson was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.
Wilbert Poole, III, 22, 102 Todd Lane, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on May 6, 2016 at 3:32 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles. A deputy investigating a complaint on Todd Lane made contact with Poole and located the active warrant for his arrest. Poole was transported to the parish jail for booking. Poole was released after posting $250 bail.
Chad Williams, 27, 123 Burchfield Lane, Berwick, LA was arrested on May 7, 2016 at 8:44 am for the following offenses:
- Failure to signal 100 feet prior to an intersection
- Stop sign violation
- Flight from an officer
- Driving under suspension
A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle turn from Highway 182 onto Jupiter Street without signaling the turn. The deputy then observed the vehicle fail to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and initiated a traffic stop. The driver failed to pull over and continued to travel failing to come to a complete stop at another stop sign. The driver then pulled into the parking lot of a business where the deputy made contact with him and identified him as Williams. Williams was unable to provide a valid driver’s license. The deputy found that Williams was operating the vehicle with a license that was listed as suspended. Following the traffic stop investigation, Williams was transported to the parish jail for booking. Williams was released on a $2,500 bond.
Tiffany L. Randolph, 26, 132 Big Bear Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on May 7, 2016 at 12:04 pm for theft. A deputy investigating a complaint of the theft of a cell phone collected evidence that Randolph stole a phone from a residence she was visiting in Franklin. Randolph was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.
Johnathan Lindsey, 31, 2713 Shaw Drive, Morgan City, LA was arrested on May 8, 2016 at 2:09 am for improper lane usage, driving under suspension, and possession of synthetic cannabinoids. A deputy traveling on Highway 182 in the Siracusa area observed a vehicle with no headlights driving on the roadway. The deputy also observed the driver crossing onto the shoulder of the highway several times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Lindsey. While speaking with Lindsey, the deputy found that he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a piece of a burnt cigarette containing a synthetic drug. Following the traffic stop investigation, Lindsey was released on a summons to appear in court on August 29, 2016.
James B. Gibson, Jr., 32, 5202 Burgundy Street, New Orleans, LA was arrested on May 8, 2016 at 4:15 am for the following offenses:
- Careless operation of a motor vehicle
- Driving under suspension
- Headlamps required
- Flight from an officer
- Possession of (open) alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of Schedule II (promethazine)
- Possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine)
- Possession of Legend Drug (tramadol) without a prescription
- Possession of Legend Drug (cyproheptadine) without a prescription
A deputy patrolling Charenton observed a vehicle on Highway 182 with no headlights on. The deputy also observed the vehicle driving into the oncoming lane and also driving onto the shoulder of the roadway. The deputy initiated a traffic stop. However, the driver of the vehicle failed to pull over. While following the vehicle, the deputy observed the driver throw an item from the SUV. The driver of the vehicle then came to a stop on John Street in Baldwin. The deputy detained the driver, identified as Gibson, pending further investigation. While speaking with Gibson, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located tramadol and cyproheptadine pills, a bottle of promethazine, a small bag of methamphetamine, and items of drug paraphernalia including a razor blades and a digital scale. The deputy also located an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the SUV and discovered that Gibson was driving the vehicle with a license that was listed as suspended. Gibson was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Somphone Khayankane, 34, 2300 Darnell Road, Lot #3, New Iberia, LA was arrested on May 9, 2016 at 12:48 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery. A deputy traveling on Highway 90 in the Patterson area observed a vehicle driving on the fog line and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, Khayankane, and located the active warrant for his arrest. Khayankane was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Earl W. Deare, 33, 411 Tiffany Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on May 9, 2016 at 2:46 am for domestic abuse battery (child endangerment) and criminal damage to property. Investigating of a report of a disturbance at a gas station in the Centerville area, a deputy found evidence that Deare repeatedly pushed a female victim and threw her cell phone into a nearby body of water while at a campground on Highway 317. A child was present during the battery. Deare was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
