Arrest Report - July 29, 2016

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 49 complaints and reports the following arrests:


Robert W. Toups, Jr., 37, 139 Blue Street, Gray, LA was arrested on July 28, 2016 at 10:59 am on 2 warrants for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family. A deputy conducting a follow-up investigation to a prior complaint in Amelia made contact with Toups and located the warrants for his arrest. Toups was transported to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $5,180.74.


Rodney Lee, 26, 702 Schlessinger Road, Abbeville, LA was arrested on July 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of an ID to gain access to a gaming establishment. A correctional officer transported Lee from the Vermillion Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $750.


Steven Morris, 29, 115 Doris Street, Amelia, LA was arrested on July 28, 2016 at 7:04 pm for violation of protective orders. A deputy investigating a complaint of a violation of a protective order found evidence that Morris made multiple attempts to contact the victim via telephone, third party, and social media. Morris was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.


According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:


Karon L. McBride, 24, 309 Lockley Street, Baldwin, LA was arrested on July 28, 2016 at 6:18 pm for improper lane usage and possession of marijuana. Narcotics detectives patrolling Baldwin observed a white car on Martin Luther King Road turn off the roadway, make a U-turn in both lanes of travel, cross off the roadway again, and then back onto the roadway.  Detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as McBride. While advising her of the reason for the stop, detectives smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located marijuana inside. Following the investigation, McBride was released on a summons to appear in court on October 17, 2016.
