The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office responded to 38 complaints over the last 24 hour reporting period. According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:
Kayla Aucoin, 21, 1015 3rd Street Lot #29, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 18, 2014 at 3:42 pm on a warrant for the charges of possession of a Schedule II drug (methamphetamine), possession of Schedule I (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia. Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division located Aucoin at her residence on the warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation conducted earlier this week at Aucoin’s residence during which detectives located the illegal drugs and several syringes. Aucoin was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Joshua Johnson, 22, 137 Friendship Alley Amelia, LA was arrested on September 18, 2014 at 5:11 pm for possession of cocaine, obstruction of justice, and resisting an officer. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Amelia area observed a male subject walking on Friendship Alley. When the man saw detectives, he immediately turned around attempting to conceal a blue pill bottle in his hands before fleeing on foot. Detectives pursued the subject and after a short foot chase, he was detained and identified as Johnson. Detectives recovered the pill bottle discarded by Johnson during the foot chase and located cocaine inside. Johnson was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Eric S. Gaskins, 43, 2414 Apple Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on September 18, 2014 at 5:22 pm on a warrant for the charges of possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and resisting an officer. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Amelia area observed Gaskins in the passenger seat of a vehicle on Friendship Alley. Detectives knew Gaskins had an active warrant for his arrest and made contact with him. The warrant stems from an investigation into illegal drug activity during which detectives observed Gaskins to be in possession of several rocks of crack cocaine. Upon seeing detectives, Gaskins fled on foot. Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest. Gaskins was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
Yolanda Pitts, 37, 927 Big Four Corners Road, Four Corners, LA was arrested on September 18, 204 at 9:28 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana). Narcotics detectives patrolling Four Corners observed a vehicle parked on the side of Big Four Corners Road towards oncoming traffic with its head lights on. Detectives made contact with the owner of the vehicle, identified as Pitts. As detectives approached the vehicle, they smelled the strong odor of marijuana. Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a bag of marijuana. Pitts released on a summons to appear in court on November 24, 2014.
