Charles Pecot took office in 1916 serving over two decades until 1940. During his third term in office in 1927, Pecot presided over one of Louisiana’s most notorious murder cases, the killing of James LeBoeuf. The two week trial resulted in the conviction of the victim’s wife, Ada Bonner LeBoeuf, and Dr. Thomas E. Dreher. The outcome of the two week trial resulted in the hanging of Ada LeBoeuf and Dreher in Franklin on February 1, 1929.
