Narcotics Detectives Find MDMA, Stolen Gun in Franklin, 1 Arrested

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Kimberly Scott, 20, 132 Riverview Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 4:42 am for obstruction of justice. A deputy stopped a pick-up truck for a vehicle violation on LA Highway 182 in Amelia. The deputy spoke with the occupants including a passenger identified as Scott. While speaking with her, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana on her person. A Morgan City Police officer arrived to assist deputies with the traffic stop investigation and found evidence that Scott ate a piece of a marijuana cigarette after seeing the deputy’s patrol unit. The deputy also found evidence that Scott used marijuana prior to the traffic stop and that she ate the marijuana. Scott was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

 

Jordan Franklin, 19, 140 Clausen Road South, Centerville, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 2:14 pm for simple burglary. A deputy was conducting an investigation into a vehicle burglary that occurred earlier in the morning on LA Highway 182 in the Jeanerette area. The deputy located a subject matching the description of the suspect walking on LA Highway 182 and identified him as Franklin. While speaking with him, the deputy positively identified Franklin as the subject who entered into a vehicle and stole approximately $12 in coins. Franklin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

 

Cordell Johnson, Jr., 607 Lovette Street, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 1:24 pm on a Jeanerette Police Department warrant for simple robbery. Deputies assisted Jeanerette Police in locating Johnson at West St. Mary High School on the warrant. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

 

Scott Mayon, 46, 106 Hebert Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 3:03 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple criminal damage to property. A deputy observed a motorist in need of assistance off Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The deputy identified the driver as Mayon and located the active warrant for his arrest. Mayon was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

 

Juvenile female, 15, Charenton, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 5:24 pm for disturbing the peace, 2 counts criminal mischief, and littering. A deputy responded to a call for service regarding a juvenile yelling in the street. The deputy found that the juvenile was causing a disturbance in the neighborhood yelling that she wanted to fight with another subject. The deputy also found that the juvenile broke a glass bottle in the street. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Joseph Lumpkin, 55, 311 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Franklin, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 3:48 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Charenton area observed a subject walking in the middle of the roadway on Chitimacha Trail. Detectives stopped to advise the subject of the dangers of walking in the street. The subject was identified as Lumpkin. While speaking with him, detectives learned that Lumpkin had a pipe in his pocket. Detectives retrieved the pipe that had been used to smoke crack cocaine. Lumpkin was released on a summons to appear in court on May 2, 2018.

 

Na Kaven Chevalier, 19, 231 Elmer Street, St. Martinville, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 4:11 pm for possession of Schedule I (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling the Charenton area observed a vehicle without a working brake light. Detectives then observed the vehicle cross over the centerline of Martin Luther King Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives identified the driver as Chevalier. While speaking with him, detectives received consent to search the car and located a cigar pack containing a marijuana cigar. Chevalier was released on a summons to appear in court on May 2, 2018.

 

Michael Walters, Sr., 39, 978 Chitimacha Trail, Baldwin, LA was arrested on February 20, 2018 at 6:01 pm for the following offenses:

  • Flight from an officer
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies
  • Possession of a firearm with an obliterated number or mark
  • Illegal possession of stolen firearms
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of Schedule I (MDMA) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone)

Narcotics detectives patrolling the Franklin area observed a subject walking on Darce Street and stopped to speak with him. When the subject saw detectives he fled on foot. Detectives followed and observed the subject throw items to the ground. The subject, identified as Walters, was detained pending an investigation. Detectives recovered a firearm and cell phone from the area where Walters threw the objects. Detectives observed that the serial number of the weapon was partially obliterated. Detectives were able to decipher the number and found that the weapon was reported stolen. While searching Walters, detectives also located a pill bottle containing over 2 dozen ecstasy pills. Walters is a convicted felon. The drugs were recovered within 2,000 feet of a school. Walters was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.
