Arrest Report - March 9, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Christa Mathews, 28, 7712 LA Highway 182, Franklin, LA was arrested on March 7, 2018 at 10:28 pm for the following offenses:

  • Improper lane usage
  • Driver must be licensed
  • Possession of Schedule I (marijuana)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

A deputy patrolling the Garden City area observed a vehicle cross over the fog line of LA Highway 182 and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy identified the driver as Mathews and found that she was operating the car without a license. While speaking with her, the deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy located a marijuana cigar, a small bag of marijuana, and 2 packs of cigars. Mathews was released on a summons to appear in court on May 30, 2018.

 

Malcolm Smith, 31, 529 Orange Street, Morgan City, LA was additionally charged on March 8, 2018 at 10:33 am on 4 warrants for failure to appear on various drug offenses and theft. Smith was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when a correctional deputy located the active warrants. No bail is set.

 

Jennifer Bourgeois, 35, 317 Onstead Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 8, 2018 at 10:17 am on a warrant for aggravated battery. In February, a deputy investigated a report of a battery that occurred at a business off LA Highway 182 in Bayou Vista. The deputy found that Bourgeois struck a female victim in the head with a beer bottle causing a small cut to the victim’s head. The deputy obtained a warrant for Bourgeois’ arrest and located her at a residence on Park Street in Patterson. Bourgeois was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Derek Brown, 26, was additionally charged on March 8, 2018 at 8:16 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on traffic related charges. Brown was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when a correctional deputy located the active warrant. Bail on the warrant is set at $375.

 

Phillip Begnaud, 34, 108 Taryn Lane, Franklin, LA was additionally charged on March 8, 2018 at 9:33 pm on 2 warrants for failure to appear on traffic related charges. Begnaud was already incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when a correctional deputy located the active warrants. Bail on the warrants is set at $450.
