Arrest Report - March 23, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Gary Vining, 49, 404 Venus Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 10:05 am for simple battery.

 

Donald Vining, 75, 501 Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 10:05 am for simple battery.

 

Cody Vining, 21, 404 Venus Road, Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 10:05 am for simple battery.

 

Wynn Whitehurst, 42, 524 Joey Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 9:30 am for disturbing the peace (fighting).

 

Deputies responded to a report of a fight that occurred near the intersection of Southeast Boulevard and Saturn Road in Bayou Vista. The deputy found that Whitehurst engaged in an argument with D. Vining. The argument escalated into a physical encounter between the 4 subjects during which G. Vining, D. Vining, and C. Vining struck Whitehurst. All four subjects were released on summonses to appear in court on May 30, 2018.

 

Archie Jones, 22, 300 North Vista Drive, 1107 Houston, TX was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 1:41 pm on 3 warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:

  • Illegal possession of stolen things
  • Direct contempt of court
  • Speeding
  • Operating a vehicle without a driver’s license
  • Failure to honor written promise to appear
  • Criminal mischief

Jones was transported from another jail facility to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the warrants. No bail is set.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Daniel Miller, 29, 110 Cotton Street, Charenton, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 6:32 pm for the following offenses:

  • Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute
  • Obstruction of justice
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substances activity

 

Keith Clark, 44, 201 Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, LA was arrested on March 22, 2018 at 6:32 pm on a warrant for possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) and improper lane usage.

 

Narcotics detectives investigating illegal drug activity in Baldwin observed Miller and Clark at a business on LA Highway 182. Detectives had a warrant for Clark as the result of a traffic stop on US Highway 90 in Patterson. As they approached the 2 men, Miller saw detectives and attempted to drive away from the area. A detective observed Miller throw a bag of crack cocaine out of the vehicle. Miller was detained. The K-9 Unit was deployed on the vehicle. K-9 Buddy indicated that the odor of narcotics was present on the vehicle. Detectives conducted a search of the car and found a razor blade used to cut the crack cocaine. Miller and Clark were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Miller was released on a $5,000 bond. Bail for Clark is set at $30,750.
