Deputies Make Arrest in Baldwin Church Burglary

04/02/2018

On March 29, 2018, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call for service from Baldwin Baptist Church regarding a burglary. The deputy found that the church had been robbed of sound equipment, tools, and other items. With the assistance of the pastor, the detective assigned to case found that a male subject attempted to sell the stolen items at a pawn shop. The detective recognized the suspect from previous interactions with him and identified him as 35 year old Ricky Tate, Jr. The detective obtained a warrant for Tate’s arrest on the charge of illegal possession of stolen things. On Easter morning, April 1, 2018 at 6:44 am, a deputy located Tate on the warrant at his residence at 4663 Irish Bend Road in Franklin, LA. Tate was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

Detectives recovered the stolen items. The items were returned to the church this morning.
