St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 53 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Robert Dugas, 45, 606 Sycamore Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on June 25, 2018, at 2:10 pm for driving under suspension. A deputy patrolling the Franklin area responded to a reckless driver complaint and observed the suspect vehicle swerve in and out of traffic. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Dugas. The deputy learned that Dugas was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Dugas was released on a summons to appear in court on September 4, 2018.

Michael Morris Jr., 19, 308 Talbot Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on June 25, 2018, at 8:03 pm on the following charges:

•      Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery
•      Warrant for failure to appear on the charge of resisting an officer
•      Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for attempted first-degree murder
•      East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for possession of marijuana (with intent to distribute) and illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted the Franklin Police Department with a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Main Street. It was learned that a suspect left the area in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted with said vehicle and contact was made with Morris. Deputies learned that Morris held active warrants for his arrest. Morris was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.
