Arrest Report- August 13, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 120 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Jason Allen, 49, 2502 West 10th Street, Panama City, FL was arrested on August 10, 2018 at 7:59 am for speeding and driving under suspension.

A deputy patrolling Amelia was enforcing traffic inside a school zone when he observed a vehicle speeding through the school zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Allen. Through the stop, the deputy found that Allen was driving under suspension. He was arrested and released on a summons to appear on November 13, 2018.

 

Juvenile male, 16, Berwick, LA was arrested on August 10, 2018 at 10:58 am for criminal damage to property.

A deputy patrolling the area of Berwick was dispatched to a residence on a complaint of an ungovernable juvenile. The deputy learned that the juvenile damaged property at the home. The juvenile was arrested and released into the custody of his guardian.

 

Austin Williams, 19, 701 Onstead Street, Morgan City, LA was arrested on August 10, 2018 at 2:13 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana.

A deputy transported Williams from the Assumption Parish Jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.

 

Joseph Phillips, 52, 271 Grandwood Drive, Patterson, LA was arrested on August 10, 2018 at 6:29 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on the charge of distribution of cocaine.

A deputy patrolling the area of Patterson was dispatched to a residence for a loud noise complaint. The deputy made contact with Phillips at the residence and learned of two active warrants for his arrest. Phillips was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $25,000.

 

Juan Cerna, 26, 109 Martin Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 10, 2018 at 8:11 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana.

A deputy patrolling the area of Franklin was dispatched to a residence on Martin Lane on an aggrivated assault complaint. During the investigation, the deputy found evidence that Cerna had brandished a firearm at the residence and made threatening statements. Cerna was searched and a BB gun was found on his person. Cerna was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is set at $2,500.

 

Bobby Jackson, 30, 124 Welch Road, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 11, 2018 at 1:56 am for disturbing the peace and simple battery.

Byron Jackson, 32, 124 Alexander Lane, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 11, 2018 at 2:41 am for disturbing the peace.

Deputies patrolling the Franklin area was dispatched to a local Hospital for a complaint of a fight that occurred on Welch Road. Through the investigation the deputies found evidence that Bobby and Byron were involved in a physical altercation. Bobby Jackson and Byron Jackson were transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail is not set for Bobby Jackson. Byron Jackson was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Wanda Hilliard, 58, 504 6th Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 11, 2018 at 6:38 am for driving under suspension, expired license plate, and careless operation of a motor vehicle.

A deputy patrolling the area of Baldwin was dispatched to a residence on Lagrange Robicheaux Road in reference to a single vehicle crash. The deputy made contact with the homeowner at the residence and learned that a vehicle had crashed into her mailbox and fence. The deputy made contact with the driver, Hilliard, who stated she had lost control of the vehicle. The deputy learned that Hilliard was operating the vehicle with a suspended license and an expired license plate. Hilliard was arrested and released on a summons to appear on November 13, 2018.

 

Jermaine Spain, 33, 212 Mechanic Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 11, 2018 at 8:40 am for improper lane usage and driving under suspension.

A deputy patrolling the area of Franklin observed a vehicle cross the center line several times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Spain. During the stop, the deputy learned that Spain had a suspended driver’s license. Spain was arrested and released on a summons to appear on November 13, 2018.

 

Jamiyon Bolden, 17, 439 Sorrel Lane, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on August 11, 2018 at 2:55 pm on a warrant for the following charges:

  •      Warrant for attempted 2nd degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm, and Illegal carrying of a weapon.
  •      Illegal use of weapons
  •      Possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute
  •      Resisting an officer

Deputies patrolling Four Corners conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Bolden who was the driver of the vehicle. Through the course of the stop, Bolden fled on foot. As he ran into a cane field, Bolden brandished a weapon from his waistband. With assistance from the Iberia Parish Sheriff Office K-9 unit, deputies apprehended Bolden. During the search of the area, deputies located the weapon buried in the mud. During a search of Bolden’s person, deputies located a baggie of synthetic cannabinoid. The warrant for Boldens arrest stemmed from an investigation initiated on August 9, 2018 where detectives found evidence that Bolden assaulted a victim with a firearm. Bolden was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was transferred to another jurisdiction.

 

Beau Snyder, 20, 106 Watson Street, Patterson, LA was arrested on August 12, 2018 at 12:28 pm for possession of marijuana and on a warrant for simple burglary.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Snyder. The deputy learned of an active warrant for his arrest. Snyder was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. During the transport, Snyder informed the deputy of a marijuana cigarette inside his shoe. The deputy located the marijuana cigarette inside Snyder’s shoe. No bail was set.

 

Harold Rener, 46, 134 Fortier Circle, Jeanerette, LA was arrested on August 12, 2018 at 2:04 pm for criminal damage to property.

A deputy patrolling the area of Jeanerette was dispatched to a complaint of a fight at a residence on Fortier Circle. Upon arrival at the residence, the deputy made contact with Rener and learned that he had broke a car window. Rener was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking and was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

Brandon Brown, 36, 296 Easy Street, Franklin, LA was arrested on August 12, 2018 at 6:30 pm for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.

While investigating an unrelating call for service on Claussen Road, deputies made contact with Brown in a vehicle. Deputies smelled a strong odor emitting from said vehicle. Through the investigation, Brown admitted to smoking marijuana in the backseat of the vehicle. Brown further admitted to having marijuana on his person and consented to a search of his person. Deputies found a plastic baggie of marijuana and a medicine bottle containing a razor blade and five slabs and two rocks of cocaine. Brown was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail is set.

 

Albaro Garcia-Figueroa, 28, 111 Cajunway Lane, Amelia, LA was arrested on August 12, 2018 at 7:05 pm for disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

A deputy patrolling Amelia was dispatched to a business in Amelia for a disturbance complaint. Upon arrival the deputy observed Figueroa kicking at another person. The deputy detained Figueroa and smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from him. Figueroa was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $1,000.

 

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

 

Eric Gaskins, 38, 129 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA was arrested on August 12, 2018 at 10:44 pm for simple battery and on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of distribution of cocaine and domestic abuse battery.

A detective with the narcotics section was dispatched to a medical emergency call at a business in Amelia. Upon arrival, the detective discovered first responders struggling with a man. The deputy made contact with the man, Gaskins, and helped subdue him. The detective learned that Gaskins had been discovered lying on the ground unconscious. Gaskins regained consciousness and struck one of the responders. The detective learned of active warrants for Gaskins arrest. Gaskins was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail was set.
