St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Francis Casmire, Jr., 61, 1133 Big Four Corners Road, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on November 7, 2018, at 3:51 pm for battery of a correctional officer.

A corrections deputy made contact with Casmire when Casmire was acting difficult with a nurse at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.  When the deputy attempted to subdue Casmire, he became physical with the deputy. Casmire was arrested and continues to be incarcerated.

 

Kendrick Nolan, 28, 103 Beau Lane, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on November 7, 2018, at 2:00 pm on a warrant on the charge of domestic abuse battery.

A corrections deputy made contact with Nolan when he turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on an active warrant for his arrest. Nolan was booked and incarcerated on said warrant. Nolan was released on a $5,000 bond.

 

Steven Richard, Sr., 38, 504 Cypress Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on November 7, 2018, at 4:22 pm for possession of synthetic cannabinoids and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies patrolling the area of Franklin responded to a location on Arlington Road where the Franklin Police Department had a vehicle with a man asleep at the wheel. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with the officer who said that when he woke up the driver, identified as Nolan, Nolan tried to hide something in the back seat. Through the investigation, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found.  Nolan was released on a summons to appear on January 30, 2019.

 

Joshua Sonnier, 25, 821 East Santa Clara Street, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on November 7, 2018, at 11:35 pm on a warrant on the charge of domestic abuse battery.

Deputies patrolling the area of Franklin were dispatched to the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in reference to a subject with a warrant.  Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Sonnier and advised him of the warrant.  Sonnier was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Sonnier was booked and incarcerated on said warrant. Sonnier was released on his own recognizance.

 

Cedric Gant, 21, 1061 Grace Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on November 8, 2018, at 9:24 pm on possession of marijuana.

Deputies patrolling Siracusa smelled a strong odor of marijuana in a parking lot area.  While investigating the source of the odor the deputies made contact with Gant who was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot. The K9 officer conducted a free air search and responded to the vehicle’s passenger side. Marijuana was found in the vehicle. Gant was arrested and released on a summons to appear on January 30, 2019.
