Arrest Report- December 11, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 47 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Gerlisa Calais, 41, 109 Bowen Lane, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on December 10, 2018, at 11:01 am on a warrant for issuing worthless checks.

A deputy made contact with Calais at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse after being informed by courtroom security that Calais was in court and held an active warrant. Calais was arrested on the warrant and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

Juvenile male, 14, Berwick, LA, was arrested on December 10, 2018, at 11:01 am for theft.

A deputy patrolling Centerville was dispatched to a location on Highway 182 in reference to a theft.  Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a man who stated that some money had been stolen by a juvenile.  The deputy made contact with the juvenile and found that he was involved in the theft. The juvenile was arrested and released to the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.  

 

Louis Dumesnil, 50, 517 Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on December 10, 2018, at 9:41 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle while license is suspended.

A corrections deputy made contact with Dumesnil at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center when Dumesnil was brought in by a bondsman. Dumesnil was arrested on said warrant and incarcerated. No bail has been set.

 

Kevin Mora, 49, 1802 Becky Drive, Franklin, LA, was arrested on December 10, 2018, at 10:14 pm for driving while intoxicated, improper lane use, and open container.

Deputies patrolling the area of Baldwin observed a vehicle cross over the center line while traveling east on Highway 182. The deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Mora. Through the investigation, the deputy smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Mora’s person and observed that Mora seemed to have trouble maintaining his balance when exiting the car and walking.  The deputy conducted field sobriety in which Mora performed poorly.  Mora was transported to the Franklin Police Department for chemical testing, which showed Mora’s blood alcohol content to be 0.182g%. Mora was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Mora was released on a $3,250 bond.
