Arrest Report- December 12, 2018

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Scott Anslum advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Brandon Hill, 36, 5527 Moor Street, Fort Hood, Texas, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 3:25 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of suboxone.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista was dispatched to investigate a report of a suspicious person on Jupiter Street. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a male subject matching the description, who was identified as Hill. The deputy learned of two active warrants for Hill’s arrest. Hill was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Asa Sam, 34, 401 Seventh Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 7:52 pm for driving under suspension and no license plate light.

A deputy patrolling the area of Baldwin observed a vehicle with no operational license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Sam. During the stop, the deputy learned that Sam’s drivers license was suspended. Sam was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

Taylor Brocato, 23, 1825 Elk Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 8:45 pm for possession of marijuana and proper equipment required on vehicles.

A deputy patrolling Amelia observed a vehicle with no operational license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Brocato. During the stop, the deputy also found marijuana in the vehicle. Brocato was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

Peyton Gassiott, 20, 506 Flattown Road, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on December 12, 2018, at 12:21 am for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy patrolling the area of Baldwin observed a vehicle “jerk” across the highway. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gassiott. During the stop, the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana and was given consent to search the vehicle. During the search, the deputy found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Gassiott was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

Cruz Sanchez, 35, 901 Willow Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on December 12, 2018, at 1:14 am for driving under suspension.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle make a turn without giving a proper turn signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Sanchez. During the stop, the deputy learned that Sanchez’ drivers license was suspended. Sanchez was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

Chad Evans, 44, 1886 River Road, Berwick, LA, was arrested on December 12, 2018, at 1:24 am for driving under suspension and no tail lights.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle with no tail lights illuminated. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Evans. During the stop, the deputy learned that Evans’ drivers license was suspended. Evans was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 6, 2019.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Jennifer Beecher, 33, 190 Beadle Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 8:42 pm for obstruction of justice, distribution of schedule II (methamphetamine), possession of schedule II (meth) with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant for possession of schedule II (methamphetamine).

Pearl Ross, 34, 224 North Verrett Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 7:35 pm for obstruction of justice, possession of schedule II (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, and limitations on backing.

Phillip Dehart, 52, 260 Murial Street, Bayou Lourse, LA, was arrested on December 11, 2018, at 7:40 pm for possession of schedule II (methamphetamine).

Detectives of the SMPSO Narcotics Section along with Detectives of the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division conducted an investigation into Jennifer Beecher selling illegal narcotics from the Amelia area. This investigation was due to numerous complaints on Beecher. During the investigation, the detectives obtained a search warrant for Beecher’s residence. During surveillance, the detectives observed Beecher meeting with a car in a known drug area. When the vehicle traveled back towards Beecher’s residence, the detectives conducted a traffic stop due to the vehicle backing up on Highway 90 and crossing over the center line. The detectives made contact with the driver, Ross. The detectives found meth in the vehicle belonging to Ross. Ross was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Ross was found to have been hiding more meth on her person. Bond was denied.

Beecher was also seen meeting with another vehicle then walking off.  Detectives made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Dehart.  When Dehart denied consent to search his vehicle, K9 Buddy was deployed and showed an odor response to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded a bag of meth in the center console. Dehart was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

Beecher was located at the residence of a family member. Through the investigation, Beecher was found to have drugs on her person. A search warrant for her residence yielded more drugs and drug paraphernalia. Beecher was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.
