Arrest Report- January 7, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 113 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Charlotte Harris, 49, 1107 Grace Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 4, 2018, at 2:48 pm for battery-simple and criminal damage to property-simple.

A deputy was dispatched to a local business in reference to a complaint of simple battery. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the suspect who was identified as Harris. Through the investigation, the deputy learned that Harris came to the store to confront an employee of the business. During that confrontation, she struck the employee several times and a shelf was broken. Harris was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Harris was released on a $3,000 bond.

 

Darrin Hemphill, 50, 1075 Stevensville Road, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 4, 2018, at 3:06 pm on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated and disturbing the peace intoxicated.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 182 in the Sorrel area when he was flagged down by a man. The deputy made contact with the man, identified as Hemphill, who said he had a warrant and wanted to turn himself in for the warrant. The deputy verified that Hemphill held two warrants for his arrest. Hemphill was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Hemphill was transferred to another agency.  

 

Kelly Guidroz, 52, 122 Teche Road, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on January 5, 2018, at 1:24 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery.

Deputies were dispatched to a location on Bergeron Street in reference to a medical situation. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Guidroz and learned that he held a warrant for his arrest. Guidroz was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Guidroz was released on a $750 bond.  

 

Christopher Martin, 35, 1806 Fourth Street, Kenner, LA, was arrested on January 5, 2018, at 1:54 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Suboxone and introducing contraband into any municipal or parish prison or jail.

Deputies were dispatched to a local business to assist the Berwick Police Department. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Martin and learned that he held a warrant for his arrest. Martin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $7,500.

 

Joshua Barr, 36, 600 North L’Dubois Road, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on January 5, 2018, at 2:22 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft.

A corrections deputy made contact with Barr at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and arrested him on said warrant. Barr was released on a $1,500 bond.  

 

Emoen Poole, 18, 144 Filmore Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 5, 2018, at 3:33 pm for resisting an officer by flight, resisting arrest or officer, and general speed law.

A deputy patrolling the area of Siracusa Road observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy activated his lights and siren and the driver responded by speeding up. As the deputy followed, other deputies nearby followed. The vehicle stopped and the passenger remained at the vehicle while the driver, Poole, fled on foot. A deputy on foot took Poole into custody. Poole was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Poole was released on a $4,250 bond.  

 

Remus Tardy, 34, 100 Tenth Street, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on January 6, 2018, at 2:12 am for driving under suspension and disobeying a stop sign.

Deputies patrolling the area of Baldwin observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Bollard Street. The deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Tardy. During the stop, the deputies learned that Tardy’s license was suspended.  Tardy was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.   

 

Shaqueel Babin, 26, 1205 Willow Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 6, 2018, at 2:12 am for driving under suspension and improper lane usage.

A deputy patrolling the area of North West Boulevard and LA Highway 182  observed a vehicle cross the center line. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Babin. During the stop, the deputy learned that Babin’s license was suspended.  Babin was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.   

 

Juvenile male, 15, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 6, 2018, at 1:02 pm for runaway juvenile.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Patterson in response to a juvenile that was missing. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a family member who stated that the juvenile left the residence on Friday without permission and had not returned. While obtaining necessary information, the juvenile returned to the residence. The juvenile was arrested for runaway juvenile and was released to the custody of a guardian pending juvenile proceedings.

 

Toni-Ann Anderson, 31, 61061 Shady Pine Drive, Lacombe, LA, was arrested on January 6, 2018, at 9:16 pm for battery on a police officer.

Deputies were dispatched to a medical facility in reference to the removal of a subject from the premises. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Anderson who would not comply with requests for her to leave the premises. Through the investigation, Anderson pushed a deputy. Anderson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $2,500.   

 

Shakeema Green, 32, 109 Edwards Lane, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on January 6, 2018, at 9:16 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of disturbing the peace and remaining where forbidden.  

Deputies patrolling the area of Baldwin conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Green. During the stop, the deputies learned of an active warrant for Green’s arrest. Green was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Green was released on a $2,500 bond.  

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Jason Matthews, 37, 178 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 4, 2018, at 7:52 pm for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of CDS law (drug-free zone), obstruction of justice, resisting an officer, and on a warrant for criminal neglect of family.  

David Stives, Jr., 30, 179 Patureau Drive, Bayou Lourse, LA, was arrested on January 4, 2018, at 7:52 pm for possession of schedule II methamphetamine, simple obstruction of a highway of commerce, violation of CDS law (drug-free zone), and resisting an officer.   

Detectives with the Narcotics Section were patrolling the area of Amelia when they observed several subjects standing next to a vehicle parked in the roadway. As detectives walked up to the vehicle, the passenger yelled at the driver and the vehicle drove off. As the detectives pursued the vehicle, they observed two baggies being thrown out of the vehicle. The detectives conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and Matthews fled from the passenger side. The detectives made contact with the driver, Stives. The baggies were retrieved which contained methamphetamine.  Additional drugs were found in the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred within 2,000 feet of a church. Matthews and Stives were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Bail was set for Matthews at $19,760.91.

Bail was set for Stives at $10,000.
