Arrest Report- January 16, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 31 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Joseph Hukill, 30, 140 Second Street, Berwick, LA, was arrested on January 15, 2019, at 2:37 pm for driving under suspension and stop sign violation.  

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a car fail to stop at a stop sign. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Hukill. Through the stop, the deputy learned that Hukill’s license was suspended. Hukill was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.

NARCOTICS SECTION

Robert Jones, Jr., 25, 409 9th Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 15, 2019, at 2:26 pm on a warrant for possession of schedule I (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of CDS law; drug-free zone (church), obstruction of justice, and resisting an officer.  

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section learned that Jones was at a Morgan City Court. The detectives made contact with Jones and advised him of the warrant. Jones was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

The warrant stemmed from an incident on September 14, 2018, in which detectives observed Jones give a backpack to a female. The detectives made contact with the female after Jones drove off from the location and found marijuana in the backpack.

Jones was later released on a $10,000 bond.

 

Jessica Bourgeois, 37, 821 Two Brothers Street, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 15, 2019, at 10:36 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II, possession of schedule I, possession of a CDS in the presence of a minor, and on a warrant for the charge of theft.   

Randy Clark, 31, 149 Friendship Alley, Amelia, LA, was arrested on January 15, 2019, at 10:36 pm for possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, and improper lane use.   

A K-9 Deputy was patrolling Amelia when he was contacted by another deputy to assist with a traffic stop on Duhon Boulevard. Upon arrival, the K-9 deputy was advised by the deputy that a truck had been observed swerve and cross the center line of the roadway and the deputy had conducted a traffic stop. K-9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air scan on the vehicle and displayed an odor response on the vehicle. The K-9 officer made contact with the driver, Clark, and the passenger, Bourgeois. Through the investigation, drugs were found in the vehicle. Deputies also learned that Clark’s license was suspended. Clark was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019. Bourgeois was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. While in booking, it was learned that Bourgeois held an active warrant for her arrest.  No bail has been set.
