Arrest Report- January 23, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 43 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Troy Carnley, 38, 516 Henry Street, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 10:44 am for failure to signal turn and no insurance.  

A deputy patrolling Highway 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle make a turn without giving a turn signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Carnley. Through the stop, the deputy learned that Carnley didn’t have insurance on the vehicle. Carnley was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.

 

Meghan Cheramie, 27, 7197 Park Road, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 10:44 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of contempt of court.   

A deputy patrolling Highway 90 in the Berwick area observed a vehicle make a turn without giving a turn signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Cheramie. Through the stop, the deputy learned of an active warrant for Cheramie’s arrest. Cheramie was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Brett Hopes, 39, 1302 Adrian Street, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 11:39 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal trespassing.   

A corrections deputy made contact with Hopes when he was brought in to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on a probation violation. Hopes was booked on said warrant and incarcerated.  No bail has been set.

 

Jerry Rogers, 27, 501 9th Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 11:42 am for possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, and proper equipment required on vehicle-inspection tag.  

A deputy patrolling the area of Franklin observed a vehicle with a taillight not fully covered by a red lens. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Rogers. Through the stop, the deputy learned that Rogers’ license was suspended. The deputy also found marijuana in the vehicle. Rogers was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.

 

Michael Jack, 47, 1146 Highway 83, Ashton, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 2:27 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana.   

A deputy was dispatched to the Franklin Courthouse in reference to a suspect holding an active warrant for his arrest.  Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the man, identified as Jack, and made him aware of the warrant. Jack was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Gabrielle Billiot, 17, 5326 Highway 182, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 6:14 pm for domestic battery.   

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Highway 182 in reference to a fight. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Billiot, who stated that she and another female had gotten into an argument. Through the investigation, the deputy spoke with witnesses and learned that Billiot had thrown the female to the ground during the fight. Billiot was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Dennis Driskell, Jr., 17, 1028 River Road, Berwick, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 2:34 pm for theft.   

Deputies went to a residence on River Road in reference to a subject with an active warrant for his arrest. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with Driskell and advised him of the warrant. The warrant stems from an incident on July 27, 2018, in which a business in Berwick had a supply of angle iron and other items stolen. Through the investigation, detectives discovered that Driskell had stolen the items and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. Driskell was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $2,000.

 

Jerome Williams, 41, 308 2nd Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 9:32 pm for disturbing the peace intoxicated, resisting arrest or officer, and entry/remaining on premises after being forbidden.   

Deputies went to a residence on Columbus Avenue in reference to a request that someone be removed from that residence. Upon arrival, the deputies made contact with a female who stated that Williams came to her residence uninvited and caused a disturbance. She furthermore stated that he had been told by SMPSO deputies before not to return to the residence. The deputy located Williams later at a local business. Williams fled on foot from the deputies but was apprehended. The deputies could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Williams’ person. Williams was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Williams was released on a $4,000 bond.

 

Marcus Gray, 34, 921 First Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 23, 2019, at 2:07 am for possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and on an active warrant for theft.   

Timothy Gaskins, 30, 2435 Apple Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on January 23, 2019, at 2:36 am for possession of marijuana, speeding 11 to 15 mph, and no child restraint.   

A deputy patrolling Highway 182 near the Bayou Ramos Bridge observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Gaskins, and several passengers, one of them was identified as Gray. Through the stop, the deputy observed a small child in the back seat without a proper restraint system. Another deputy arrived on the scene to assist and spoke to Gray. The deputy found marijuana in Gray’s possession that Gray attempted to swallow. Gray said Gaskins handed him the marijuana earlier. Gray and Gaskins were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $1,000 for Gray.  Gaskins was released on a $2,500 bond.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Lilly Touchet, 26, 112 Chris Lane, Verdunville, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 2:43 pm for possession of marijuana.

Detectives with the Narcotics Section of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office were patrolling Centerville when they observed a vehicle traveling in the middle of the road over the solid yellow lines. The detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Touchet. Through the stop, marijuana was found. Touchet was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.

 

Jaquincy Mouton, 26, 504 Sikes Street, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on January 22, 2019, at 3:50 pm for possession of marijuana.

Detectives with the Narcotics Section of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office were patrolling the area of Franklin when they observed a man sitting on a porch with a marijuana cigarette. The detectives made contact with the man, identified as Mouton. Mouton was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.
