St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 27 complaints and reports the following arrests:

Laura Newbaker, 35, 1114 Lee Charles Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 25, 2019, at 12:18 am for possession of drug paraphernalia.  

A deputy patrolling the area of Franklin observed a vehicle make a turn without using a turn signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and a passenger, identified as Newbaker. Through the stop, drug paraphernalia was found in Newbaker’s possession. Newbaker was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.
