St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 40 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Kirk Anslem, Jr., 30, 1052 Irma Drive, Breaux Bridge, LA, was arrested on January 29, 2019, at 4:02 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of attempted theft.
A transportation deputy made contact with Anslem when transporting him to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center from another agency on an active warrant. Anslem was booked on said warrant and incarcerated. Anslem later received a judicial release.
Christopher Fryar, 35, 922 6th Street, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 30, 2019, at 10:30 pm for driving under suspension.
A deputy patrolling the area of the Port of West St. Mary observed a vehicle cross the fog line and center line multiple times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Fryar. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Fryar’s driver’s license was suspended. Fryar was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.
Jesse Joseph, 39, 119 Bernard Street, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 30, 2019, at 10:36 pm for obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage.
A deputy patrolling Siracusa observed a vehicle cross the fog line several times. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Joseph. During the stop, the deputy could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Moments later, the SMPSO K9 unit arrived to assist, and K9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff. K9 Buddy alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. Marijuana was located in the vehicle as well as drug paraphernalia. Joseph was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $3,750.
