Arrest Report- February 1, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 25 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Charlie Williams, Jr., 40, 614 79 Pines Lane, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on January 31, 2019, at 11:08 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista was dispatched to a residence on 79 Pines Lane in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Williams and was informed by dispatch of an active warrant for his arrest. Williams was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Williams was released on a $250 bond.

 

Brandy Martin, 44, 2349 Chatsworth Road, Franklin, LA, was arrested on January 31, 2019, at 3:39 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to maintain automobile liability insurance and failure to yield at an intersection when turning left.

A deputy patrolling the area of Franklin observed a vehicle with an expired vehicle inspection sticker. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Martin. Through the stop, the deputy was informed by dispatch of an active warrant for Martin. Martin was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Martin was released on a $500 bond.

 

Tra Acosta, 22, 338 Leo Street, Patterson, LA, was arrested on January 31, 2019, at 6:19 pm for reckless operation.

On January 30, a deputy patrolling Bayou Vista was dispatched to a local business in reference to a reckless driver complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with business personnel who provided video footage of a vehicle driving recklessly.  A day later, the deputy was investigating a separate incident when he saw the vehicle matching the description of the vehicle on the video footage. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Acosta. Through the stop, Acosta admitted to the reckless operation. Acosta was arrested and released on a summons to appear on April 4, 2019.

 

James Bertrand, 58, 100 Baronne Street, Baldwin, LA, was arrested on January 31, 2019, at 7:26 pm for driving under suspension, no taillights, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure to stop/yield at stop sign.

A deputy patrolling the area of Baldwin observed a vehicle run a stop sign. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Bertrand. Through the stop, the deputy was informed by dispatch of an active warrant for Bertrand. Bertrand was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $1,250.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Kristy Carter, 41197 Jupiter Street, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on January 31, 2019, at 4:10 pm for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of legend drug (gabapentin) and improper lane use.

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section were patrolling Bayou Vista when they observed a vehicle cross the fog line on Highway 182. The detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Carter. Through the stop, the detectives found drugs in the vehicle. Carter was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center for booking. Carter was released on a $2,250 bond.
