Arrest Report- February 8, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Latasha Dousay, 22, 221 Patton Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 7, 2019, at 3:04 am for theft.

A deputy was dispatched to a local business in Bayou Vista in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with business personnel who stated that a female had taken a cell phone out of a basket and had later dropped it in an area inside the business where it was located. The deputy made contact with the subject, identified as Dousay. Dousay was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 2, 2019.

 

Brontriaze Weber, 22, 502 West Admiral Drive, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on February 7, 2019, at 2:57 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle without a driver’s license and careless operation of a motor vehicle.

A corrections deputy working at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center made contact with Weber when he turned himself in on an active warrant for his arrest. Weber was arrested on said warrant and incarcerated.  Weber was released on a $3,000 bond.

 

James Batiste, 40, 104 Bass Drive, Lafayette, LA, was arrested on February 7, 2019, at 6:48 pm for speeding and driving under suspension.

A deputy was stationary on Highway 90 in the median when he observed a vehicle traveling west at a high rate of speed. The deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Batiste. Through the stop, the deputy learned that Batiste’s driver’s license was suspended.  Batiste was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 2, 2019.  

 

Donna Reed, 47, 1900 Saturn Road, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on February 7, 2019, at 9:18 pm for theft by shoplifting.

A deputy was dispatched to a local business in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with store personnel who stated that Reed had attempted to leave the store with items for which she had not made payment.  The deputy made contact with Reed and during the investigation, more items were found in her purse. Reed was arrested and released on a summons to appear on May 2, 2019.
