Arrest Report- February 12, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 31 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Eric Bridges, 31, 136 Vaughn Lane, Verdunville, LA, was arrested on February 11, 2019, at 10:14 am on a warrant for theft and on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and illegal possession of stolen things.

A deputy was stationary in the area of Highway 317 near Highway 90 east when he observed a vehicle traveling Northbound on Highway 317 with an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Bridges. During the stop, the deputy was informed by dispatch that Bridges held an active warrant for his arrest. Bridges was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Wayne Escort, 30, 166 Mallard Street, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on February 11, 2019, at 8:50 pm for resisting arrest or officer, possession of marijuana, driver must be licensed, improper parking, and unattended motor vehicle.  

Deputies were in the area of Shannon Homes in Morgan City attempting to locate a subject on an order of protective custody when they observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in the Eastbound lane of travel facing Westbound traffic on Terrebonne Street.  Upon approaching the vehicle, a subject later identified as Escort ran up and got into the vehicle. The deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Escort.  During the stop, marijuana was found in the vehicle. Escort was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Escort was later released on a $5,250 bond.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Eric Bridges, 31, 136 Vaughn Lane, Verdunville, LA, was arrested on February 11, 2019, at 12:03 pm on a warrant for following vehicles too close, improper lane usage, obstruction of justice, dist/manufacture or possession with intent to distribute of schedule II CDS (methamphetamine), and transactions involving drug proceeds.

A detective with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section was advised that Bridges had been arrested and brought to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. The detective placed Bridges under arrest for an active warrant held by the SMPSO Narcotics Section and turned Bridges over to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration.

The warrant stems from a Narcotics Section investigation with assistance from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office on May 16, 2018, in which narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Bridges. Through that stop, methamphetamine was found.

No bail has been set for Bridges.
