Arrest Report, May 7, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Jared Michael Powell, 29, 504 Avenue A, Belle Chase, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 11:04 am for driving while intoxicated (1st offense) and open container.

 

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hwy. 90 westbound in Bayou Vista, La. in reference to a vehicle swerving in and out of the lane of travel. Dispatch then advised the suspected vehicle had pulled into a parking lot. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant, who observed the vehicle traveling in and out of the lane of travel. Deputies then made contact with the driver, identified as Powell. While speaking with Powell, deputies observed his speech to be slurred. Powell was transported to the Berwick Police Department for chemical testing on the Intoxilyzer 9000.  Powell’s blood alcohol content tested at .183g%. Powell was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $3,000.

 

Joseph Lance Jenkins, 45, 731 Fortins St., Berwick, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 11:34 am for driving under suspension.

 

A deputy was dispatched to the area of Hwy. 90 westbound in the area of the Amelia, La. exit in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Jenkins. A background check on Jenkins revealed he was driving with a suspended license. He was issued a summons to appear in court on August 28, 2019.

 

Barry Paul Peltier, Sr., 66, 5090 Hwy. 317, Bayou Sale, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 4:32 pm on a warrant for domestic abuse battery (misdemeanor).

 

Peltier was located at his residence on the active warrant. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond has been set at $2,500.

 

Marjorie Renee Ruffin, 29, 421 Oneal Chube St., Franklin, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 3:44 pm for disturbing the peace by fighting.

 

Jermaine Walter Brown, 33, 111 Third St., Franklin, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 3:44 pm for disturbing the peace by fighting.

 

Derikeyona D. Kirt, 20, 1017 ½ A St., Franklin, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 3:44 pm for disturbing the peace by fighting and possession of marijuana.

 

A deputy was driving west on Hwy. 182 in Franklin when he observed several subjects in a physical altercation on the corner of Hanson St. and Hwy. 182. With the assistance of the Franklin Police Department, it was learned that Ruffin, Brown, and Kirt was involved in the altercation. Kirt admitted to having a small amount of marijuana on her person. Ruffin, Brown, and Kirt were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bond on Ruffin and Brown have been set at $1,000. Bond has been set on Kirt at $3,000.

 

Dwayne C. Broussard, 56, 2600 Hwy. 182, Patterson, La., was arrested on May 6, 2019, at 11:08 pm on a warrant for 2nd degree aggravated battery.

 

Broussard was located at his residence on the active warrant. He was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on his own recognizance.
