Capsized Vessel:  June 9, 5:50 pm, Vermillion Bay.

Deputies with the Marine Section were contacted by dispatch in reference to a capsized vessel in Vermillion Bay.  Dispatched further advised that there were 4 persons in the water, 2 adults and 2 juveniles. Their location was 3 miles from Cypremort Point and 3 miles from Jefferson Island.

Deputies attempted to make contact with the subjects but were unsuccessful.

Deputies then responded to the area. While en route the deputies made contact with the US Coast Guard in an attempt to ping a location from the subject’s phone. The USCG also advised they were sending a helicopter to the area. Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office was also notified.

After launching the patrol vessel it was learned that a good samaritan had located the subjects and was towing them in to the Quintana Boat Launch. Coordinates were also provided to their location.
