Arrest Report- July 12, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 34 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Austin Vining, 26, 202 Field Road, Bayou Vista, La., was arrested on July 11, 2019, at 3:32 pm for driving under suspension and stop signs/yield signs.

A deputy was stationary on Columbus Street when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Vining.  Through the stop, the deputy learned that Vining’s license was suspended.  Vining was arrested and released on a summons to appear on October 16, 2019.

 

Wayne Lagarde, 211 Shivers Street, Patterson, La., was arrested on July 11, 2019, at 7:56 pm for criminal trespass.

A deputy was dispatched to Shivers Street in reference to a disturbance.  Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the complainant who stated that Lagarde was trespassing on her property.  The deputy made contact with Lagarde and after speaking with him, Lagarde was arrested and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Lagarde was released on a $1,000 bond.

 

Shelia Naranjos, 52, 186 Beadle Street, Amelia, La., was arrested on July 11, 2019, at 8:18 pm for possession of schedule II drugs and improper lane usage.

A deputy patrolling the area of Highway 90 in Bayou Vista observed a vehicle cross the shoulder line and drive for a short distance before correcting. The vehicle did this twice and also crossed the center line. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Naranjos.  During the investigation, the deputy located drugs for which Naranjos did not have a prescription. Naranjos was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Lia Kathryn Lipari, 43, 220 Laura Drive, Patterson, La., was arrested on July 12, 2019, at 12:20 am for driving while intoxicated.

A deputy patrolling the area of Morgan City was dispatched to a residence on Barrow Street in reference to a vehicle that had crashed into the residence. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver, Lipari. The deputy conducted field sobriety in which Lipari performed poorly. Lipari was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for chemical testing, but she refused the testing. Lipari was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $3,000.

 

NARCOTICS SECTION

Rakesha L. Granger, 42, 126 Natalie Lane, Patterson, La., was arrested on July 11, 2019, at 9:40 pm for possession of schedule I Marijuana and improper lane usage.

Detectives with the SMPSO Narcotics Section were patrolling the Siracusaville area when they observed a vehicle being driven in the opposite lane of travel. The detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Granger.  During the investigation, the detectives located drugs. Granger was arrested and released on a summons to appear on October 16, 2019.

 

James Henry Cox, Jr., 34, 669 Oregon Street, Berwick, La., was arrested on July 11, 2019, at 8:01 pm for possession of schedule I Marijuana.

Detectives with the SMPSO Narcotics Section and members of the Berwick Police Department went to a residence on Oregon Street to execute a search warrant. Upon executing the warrant, contact was made with Cox. Through the investigation, marijuana was found. Cox was arrested and released on a summons to appear on October 16, 2019.
