Arrest Report- July 22, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 119 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Dedrick Jamarcus Gant, Sr., 34, 1702 Cross Rd. #2, Bayou Vista, La., was arrested on July 17, 2019, at 6:55 pm for obstruction of justice, resisting arrest or officer, possession of schedule IV drugs (Xanax), and on five warrants for failure to appear on the following charges:

  • Unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (felony)
  • Possession of MDMA (less than 2 grams) (x2)
  • Battery of a police officer (x2)
  • Resisting an officer (x2)

On July 17, 2019, deputies received an anonymous tip of the location of Gant who had several active warrants for his arrest. Upon arrival, deputies located Gant inside of a local business in Bayou Vista. During the arrest, Gant resisted and became irate with the deputies. During the investigation, drugs were found. Gant was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Shannon Marie Cook, 30, 78 Choctaw St., Charenton, La., was arrested on July 19, 2019, at 2:10 pm for hit & run and possession of methamphetamines.

Daniel Laviolette, 32, 131 Big Bear Ln., Franklin, La., was arrested on July 19, 2019, at 2:10 pm for possession of methamphetamines.

Deputies were dispatched to 11319 Hwy. 182 in Franklin in reference to a single-vehicle crash. Deputies learned through dispatch that the vehicle had left the scene and was located at another location. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the driver, Cook, and the passenger, Laviolette. During the investigation, drugs were found. Both were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set for Cook and Laviolette.

 

Michael Wayne Martin, Jr., 36, 3510 Second St. B, Berwick, La., was arrested on July 20, 2019, at 4:02 am for theft.

Deputies were dispatched to Field Rd. in Bayou Vista in reference to a complaint of unauthorized use of a movable. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant and a witness. During the investigation, deputies made contact with Martin and learned he had committed a theft. Martin was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $1,500.

 

Miranda Jean Topham, 38, 1311 Saturn Rd. Lot 1, Bayou Vista, La., was arrested on July 20, 2019, at 1:54 pm on a warrant for simple battery involving domestic violence and disturbing the peace (noise).

A deputy was patrolling the area of Saturn Rd. in Bayou Vista when he made contact with Topham, who held an active warrant for her arrest. Topham was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $3,500.

 

Cathy M. Duval, 56, 167 Burchfield Lane, Berwick, La., was arrested on July 20, 2019, at 9:11 pm for turning movements/required signals and possession of marijuana.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 near Pluto St. in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle fail to use a proper turn signal while making a right-hand turn. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Duval. During the investigation, drugs were found. Duval was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on October 16, 2019.

 

Cedric Benjamin Gant, 22, 1061 Grace St., Siracusa, La., was arrested on July 20, 2019, at 11:04 pm for no headlights and (2) warrants for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and driver’s license not in possession.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 near Duhon Bypass Road in Amelia when he observed a vehicle driving with an inoperable headlamp. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Gant. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Gant held an active warrant for his arrest. Gant was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. He was released on a summons to appear in court.

 

Brittany O. Bolden, 30, 301 Gumpoint Lane, Franklin, La., was arrested on July 21, 2019, at 1:25 pm for failure to obey traffic controls, driving under suspension, and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of driving under suspension.

A deputy was stationary on Hwy. 90 in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle make an illegal U-turn. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Bolden. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Bolden was driving with a suspended driver’s license and that she held an active warrant for her arrest. Bolden was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $2,750.

 

Stacy Gerald Verdun, 49, 100 Lincoln Dr., Patterson, La., was arrested on July 21, 2019, at 3:27 pm for remaining on property without permission.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence in Bayou Vista in reference to a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the complainant and Verdun. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Verdun was advised he was not allowed back at the residence. Verdun was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $500.

 

Melissa Ann Nall, 48, 410 Eighth St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on July 21, 2019, at 6:26 pm for an expired license plate, expired or no inspection sticker, and driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 in Morgan City when he observed a vehicle with an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker and an expired license plate. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Nall. The deputy was advised by dispatch that she was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Nall was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on October 16, 2019.

 

Joy Trinette Hamilton, 45, 459 Verdun Ln., Verdunville, La., was arrested on July 22, 2019, at 12:24 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.

A deputy was traveling on Main St. in Franklin when he observed a vehicle traveling without proper display of a license plate. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Hamilton. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Hamilton held an active warrant for her arrest. Hamilton was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Kentrell Demond Thomas, 38, 146 French Lane, Napoleonville, La., was arrested on July 22, 2019, at 12:49 am for entry/remaining on premises after being forbidden.

A deputy was dispatched to Cajun Way Lane in Amelia in reference to a trespassing complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the complainant who advised him that Thomas was no longer allowed on the premises. During the investigation, the deputy located Thomas and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail has been set at $500.
