Arrest Report- July 26, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 50 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Tasha Lynn Soprano, 39, 202 Turner St., Franklin, La., was arrested on July 25, 2019, at 10:01 am for theft and criminal damage to property.

Aimee Lynn Chapman, 34, 613 Robert St., Franklin, La., was arrested on July 25, 2019, at 10:01 am on the following charges:

  • Possession of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of schedule II drugs (vyvanse)
  • Possession of schedule II drugs (hydrocodone)
  • Resisting arrest or officer
  • Theft
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

Deputies were dispatched to a business in Centerville in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the manager, Soprano, and Chapman. As the investigation progressed, deputies learned Soprano and Chapman committed a theft. During the arrest of Chapman, drugs were found in her possession. Soprano and Chapman were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail on Soprano has been set at $2,000. Bail on Chapman has been set at $9,748.30.

 

Chad Toups, 45, 116 Doris St., Amelia, La., was arrested on July 25, 2019, at 12:25 pm for simple criminal damage to property (x2) and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (x2).

Deputies were dispatched to the area of Lake Palourde Rd. and Friendship Alley in reference to a residential burglary. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant who identified Toups as a suspect. During the investigation, it was learned Toups had damaged property and entered the residences. Toups was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Courtney J. Long, 40, 1372 Joseph St., Morgan City, La., was arrested on July 25, 2019, at 1:07 pm for driving on right side of road and driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Southeast Blvd. and Hwy. 90 in Bayou Vista, La. when he observed a vehicle operating in the left lane, driving below the posted speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Long. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Long was driving under suspension. Long was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on October 16, 2019.

 

Trent A. Gilbert, 35, 300 Bert St., Jeanerette, La., was arrested on July 26, 2019, at 2:08 am for switched license plate/stolen license plate, no insurance, and driving under suspension.

A deputy was traveling on Hwy. 182 in Baldwin when he observed a vehicle with an inoperable headlight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Gilbert. The deputy was advised by dispatch that Gilbert was driving under suspension and had no insurance on the vehicle. Gilbert was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on October 16, 2019.
