Arrest Report- August 20, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 48 complaints reports the following arrests:

 

Charmine Louise Cotton, 35, 4931 Hwy. 28 East, Pineville, La., was arrested on August 19, 2019, at 2:10 pm on two warrants for the charges of possession of schedule II drugs (methamphetamine) and parole violation.

Cotton turned herself into the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on an active warrant for her arrest and was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Joshua Jones, 27, 108 Richard St., Baldwin, La., was arrested on August 19, 2019, at 10:08 pm for possession of marijuana and improper lane usage.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Hwy. 182 near Irish Bend Rd. in Franklin when he observed a vehicle cross the outer fog line. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Jones. During the traffic stop, drugs were located inside the vehicle. Jones was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on November 8, 2019.

 

Calvin Edward Charles, 64, 603 Labau St., Baldwin, La., was arrested on August 20, 2019, at 3:04 am for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Martin Luther King St. in Baldwin when he observed a vehicle without an operable license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Charles. Through the investigation, drugs were found. Charles was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on November 8, 2019.

 

Ronald Wayne Johnson, Jr., 28, 318 Martin Luther King Ave., Patterson, La., was arrested on August 20, 2019, at 3:06 am for theft by shoplifting and resisting a police officer with force or violence.

Deputies were dispatched to a local business in Bayou Vista in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with witnesses who stated Johnson had committed a theft. During the arrest, Johnson resisted deputies. Johnson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

K-9 SECTION

 

Jermaine Lavone Spain, 34, 6744 Hwy. 182, Franklin, La., was arrested on August 20, 2019, at 1:53 am for possession of schedule I drugs with the intent to distribute, illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Sterling Rd. in Franklin when he observed a vehicle without an operable taillight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Spain. Though the stop, K-9 Jace was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff and alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. During the search, drugs and a firearm was located. Spain was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

 

 

NARCOTICS SECTION / K-9 SECTION 

 

Wade Blackburn, 43, 622 Rolling Meadows Dr., Lancaster, Tx., was arrested on August 19, 2019, at 5:09 pm on the following charges:

  • Improper lane usage
  • Possession of schedule I drugs with the intent to distribute (MDMA)
  • Possession of schedule II drugs with the intent to distribute (Hydrocodone)
  • Possession of schedule IV drugs with the intent to distribute (Xanax)
  • Transactions involving drug proceeds

Narcotics detectives were traveling westbound on Hwy. 90 in Berwick when they observed a vehicle cross over the solid white onto the shoulder of the roadway. The detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Blackburn. During the stop, K-9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff. After showing an odor response to the vehicle, a search of the vehicle was conducted which led to the recovery of drugs and cash. Blackburn was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.
