St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 119 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Alexis Picou, 20, 3201 Karen Drive, Morgan City, La., was arrested on September 20, 2019, at 1:29 pm for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 90 eastbound when he observed a vehicle traveling slower than traffic in the left lane. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and a passenger, identified as Picou. Through the stop, drugs and drug paraphernalia belonging to Picou was found. Picou was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Germond Joseph Carter, 37, 3414 First Avenue, Lake Charles, La., was arrested on September 20, 2019, at 2:46 pm on an active warrant through the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office on the charges of domestic abuse and aggravated assault.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 90 eastbound when he observed a vehicle with a license plate cover that was obstructing the plate.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver and a passenger, identified as Carter. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy of the active warrant for Carter’s arrest. Carter was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and is being held for another agency.

 

Lydia Jane Cruz, 34, 1101 Southeast Boulevard, Bayou Vista, La., was arrested on September 21, 2019, at 7:00 pm for theft, monetary instrument abuse, driving under suspension, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.

A deputy was dispatched to an address on Lake Palourde Road in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the complainant who said he received a counterfeit $100 bill from an unknown female. Through the investigation, Cruz was developed as the female subject and a Berwick P.D. officer assisted in making contact with Cruz at a residence in Berwick. Cruz was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Heidi Franco, 31, 507 Cleveland Street, Patterson, La., was arrested on September 21, 2019, at 3:26 am for possession of marijuana and turning movements and required signals.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 182 near Morgan City when he observed a vehicle fail to use a turning signal when switching lanes. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Franco. With the assistance of a Morgan City P.D. officer, drugs were located on Franco’s person. Franco was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Ronald Paul Hawkins, Jr., 36, 103 Hawkins Street, Franklin, La., was arrested on September 21, 2019, at 9:07 am for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on roadway laned for traffic.

A deputy was stationary on Irish Bend Road near St. Joseph Lane when he observed a vehicle cross the solid white line and travel on the shoulder. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Hawkins. During the stop, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Hawkins was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Travis Truehill, 40, 2476 La Highway 308, Thibodaux, La., was arrested on September 22, 2019, at 3:10 am for proper equipment required on vehicles and driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 90 eastbound in Berwick when he observed a vehicle with a license plate cover that was obstructing the license plate. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Truehill. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Truehill was operating with a suspended license. Truehill was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Stacey Lynn Grubb, 38, 1113 Iberia St., Franklin, La., was arrested on September 22, 2019, at 9:06 pm on an active warrant for theft.

A deputy was dispatched to a local business in reference to a theft complaint.  Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Grubb, who held an active warrant for her arrest. Grubb was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.  No bail has been set.

 

Michael Ray Ceaser, 40, 205 Martin Luther King St., Baldwin, La., was arrested on September 22, 2019, at 8:05 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy was stationary on Highway 90 westbound in the Berwick area working a traffic enforcement detail when he observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Ceaser, who held an active warrant for his arrest. Caesar was issued a citation for speeding and was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the active warrant.  No bail has been set.

 

Laron Christopher Otis, 29, 1507 Sterling Road, Franklin, La., was arrested on September 23, 2019, at 6:20 pm for speeding and driving under suspension.

A deputy was traveling on Highway 182 East near the Katy Bridge Approach when he observed a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Otis, along with the assistance of the Baldwin P.D. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Otis was operating with a suspended license. Otis was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Michael Marlon Alpha, 41, 140 Mill Road 42, Patterson, La., was arrested on September 22, 2019, at 8:47 pm for brake lights required and driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Southeast Blvd. in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle with an inoperable driver’s side brake light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Alpha. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Otis was operating with a suspended license. Alpha was arrested and released on a summons to appear in court on December 2, 2019.

 

Kevin Tyrone Loston, Jr., 26, 212 Easy Street, Franklin, La., was arrested on September 23, 2019, at 5:45 am for domestic abuse battery.

Bridget Spain, 41, 212 Easy Street, Franklin, La., was arrested on September 23, 2019, at 5:45 am for domestic abuse battery.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Easy Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, he made contact with Spain and Loston and due to the results of the investigation, both were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set for both at $4,000. Loston was subsequently released on bond.
