Arrest Report, November 4, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 96-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 135 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Kirk Joseph Coleman, 59, 212 Uranus Street, Bayou Vista, LA, was arrested on October 31, 2019, at 10:21 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure to return to jury duty after lunch.

A deputy made contact with Coleman at a residence on Uranus Street and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the active warrant. Coleman was released on a judicial release.

 

Lois Marie Thomas, 58, 130 Bray Drive, Franklin, LA, was arrested on November 1, 2019, at 12:59 pm on two active warrants for the charges of disturbing the peace-language and theft.

A deputy was dispatched to a local business in Franklin to assist the Franklin Police Department in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Thomas and was advised by dispatch that she held an active warrant for her arrest. Thomas was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Thomas was released on a $2,500 bond.  

 

Lois Marie Thomas, 58, 130 Bray Drive, Franklin, LA, was arrested on November 1, 2019, at 10:52 pm for assault-simple and remaining on property without permission.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Bray Drive in reference to a subject that had returned to a residence after she was advised to stay away. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with complainants who stated that Thomas had returned to the residence causing a disturbance and was refusing to leave. Thomas was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking, where she began to spit on deputies. Thomas was later released on a $1,500 bond.  

 

Carla Theresa Gagliano, 47, 1306 Lake Palourde Road, Amelia, LA, was arrested on November 1, 2019, at 11:04 am for domestic abuse battery.

A deputy was dispatched to a residence on Lake Palourde Road in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a complainant who stated that Gagliano had struck the complainant earlier. The deputy made contact with Gagliano at her residence and she admitted to striking the victim. Gagliano was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was later released on her own recognizance.  

 

Raymond Terry Chapman, 39, 316 Elm Street, Centerville, LA, was arrested on November 2, 2019, at 3:32 am for driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling Centerville when he observed a vehicle drive up to the Centerville market.  The driver exited the vehicle and the deputy recognized him as Chapman, who the deputy knew did not have a valid driver's license.  The deputy made contact with Chapman and was advised by dispatch that Chapman's driver's license was suspended. Chapman was arrested and released on a summons to appear on February 7, 2020.

 

Jordan D. Verret, 31, 205 Woodvale Drive, Lafayette, LA, was arrested on November 2, 2019, at 10:38 am for driving under suspension and speeding.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Martin Luther King Street in Charenton when he observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Verret.  Through the stop, dispatch advised that Verret's driver's license was suspended. Verret was arrested and released on a summons to appear on February 7, 2020.

 

Jevon Ray Lively, 27, 500 Domingue Street, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on November 2, 2019, at 8:42 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled and operating a vehicle with an unlit license plate light.

A booking deputy made contact with Lively when he was brought in on a bond surrender at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Lively was booked and incarcerated. No bail has been set.

 

Zhane Jatasha Pool, 25, 4405 Old Jeanerette Road, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on November 3, 2019, at 8:50 am for driving on roadway laned for traffic, possession of marijuana, and illegal use of CDS in the presence of a minor.

A deputy was patrolling Highway 90 East in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle cross over the solid white line.  The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Pool. Through the stop, marijuana belonging to Pool was found. Pool was arrested and released on a summons to appear on February 7, 2020.

 

Ashley Marie Schildwachter, 28, 3522 Highway 182, Patterson, LA, was arrested on November 3, 2019, at 11:15 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of leash law violation.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Southeast Blvd. in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle with an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Schildwachter. Through the stop, dispatch advised that Schildwachter held an active warrant through the Patterson Police Department. Schildwachter was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Mark Yelling, 55, 2109 Deslatte Street, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on November 3, 2019, at 12:13 pm for driving under suspension and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to use seatbelts, operating a vehicle without a driver's license, and failing to honor written promise to appear.

A deputy was dispatched to a vehicle crash on Highway 182 and Penn Road North. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the driver of one of the vehicles, Yelling.  Through the investigation, dispatch advised that Yelling's license was suspended and that he held an active warrant for his arrest. Yelling was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was later released on a $1324.50 bond.

 

Jesus Talavera Soto, 37, 141 West 149th  Street, Galliano, LA, was arrested on November 4, 2019, at 7:15 pm for improper lane usage and driving while intoxicated.

Deputies were dispatched to Highway 90 for a vehicle being driven recklessly. The deputies observed the vehicle crossing the centerline, conducted a traffic stop, and made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Soto.  The deputies smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Soto and conducted field sobriety, in which Soto performed poorly. Soto was transported to the Franklin Police Department for chemical testing which he refused twice. Soto was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $2,750.
