Arrest Report, December 20, 2019

St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 35 complaints and reports the following arrests:

 

Kendal Jerome Hunt, Sr., 32, 521 Trappey Street, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on December 19, 2019, at 9:53 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of violation of a protective order.

A deputy made contact with Hunt when he came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office to inquire about the warrant. After confirming that the warrant was still active, the deputy transported Hunt to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

Alvey Joseph Henry, 25, 609 Oday Road, St. Martinville, LA, was arrested on December 19, 2019, at 11:18 am for possession of marijuana.

A deputy was assisting a Louisiana State Police Trooper with a traffic stop on Highway 90 in Bayou Vista when marijuana belonging to the driver, Henry, was found. Henry was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 11, 2020.

 

Kenton Dwayne Borel, 21, 1529 Martin Luther King Drive, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on December 19, 2019, at 8:17 pm for no headlights and driving under suspension.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 182 in Franklin when he observed a vehicle with an inoperable headlight. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Borel. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputy that Borel's license was suspended. Borel was arrested and released on a summons to appear on March 11, 2020.

 

Kashif Jermaine Wallace, 31, 2602 Clines Lane, Amelia, LA, was arrested on December 19, 2019, at 9:23 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft.

Deputies were patrolling Amelia and Bayou Vista areas when they observed a vehicle cross the centerline of the highway several times. The deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Wallace. Through the stop, dispatch advised the deputies that Wallace held an active warrant for his arrest. Wallace was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bail has been set.

 

K9 DIVISION

Aaron Jackson, 52, 2442 Highway 318, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on December 19, 2019, at 11:43 pm on the following charges:

-        License plate lights required

-        General speed law

-        Turning movements and signals required

-        Open container

-        Possession of marijuana

A deputy was patrolling the area of Highway 182 in Jeanerette when he observed a vehicle speeding without an operable license plate light. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Jackson. During the stop, K9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air sniff and showed a positive response on the vehicle. Marijuana and an open container of alcoholic beverage were found in the vehicle. Jackson was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Jackson was later released on a $4,000 bond.
